Blame the looming exams for my lack of updates! I’ve still got tons of photos from end nov to early jan sitting in my external hard drive. Gonna edit them in my own time, so ma man lei lah okay.
I bet most of those who went for this event would have posted it up already, but here’s my version of it anyway!
10 of us were kindly invited by Nuffnang to a Nuffnang Christmas Party in Singapore. We could each bring a guest, provided that they were bloggers as well. The moment I heard, “Singapore”, “JW Marriot”, “Nuffnang Singapore”, “Guest must be blogger”, I immediately signed Chee Kiang up with nuffnang. Plastered ads on his blogspot blog, and there you have it, a Nuffnang blogger. Ok set.
The Christmas Party was sponsored by both vPost and Nuffnang. What impressed me the most was that they chartered a luxury bus for us, it was as if we were in an airplane. It is THAT comfy! As if that wasn’t enough, they freaking put us up at THE MARRIOTT. Upon check-out, we asked the front desk personnel about the price of the room. It’s 400SGD per night!! I don’t even have that kind of money if you totaled up all the money in both my bank accounts at the end of any month. Poor students are like that one.
Very, very generous. Thank you vPost and Nuffang. Wait till you here about the prizes they were giving out during the Christmas party.
Here’s Jason and his guest, Robin. 🙂 Robin is suppper smiley. I’ve got a female friend who could pass off as his sister, but I can’t remember who. A smiling, obliging, anything goes, friend. But I can’t remember who. :\
After almost four years, I finally get to meet Huai Bin again. He’s much more happy go lucky and jovial in person. HB, on your blog you sound more composed and collected.
Myself with Cindy and Robyn(is that how I spell your name?)
Huai Bin with Vivien and Ginny.
Myself, Aud and Chee Kiang (since it’s his first blogging event, must put his link also.:P Erm, come to think of it. Not true! He went for a Nuffnang Singapore movie screening with me in 2007! ) SMKSU reunion! Too bad Wai Ping(Pinky) was already in Singapore. Or rather, too bad we didn’t have a SMKSU photo! Back in the day, Chee Kiang was a very good assistant to Audrey when she was the club service director for the Leo Club back in ’01 when she organized her IU day. Anybody from SU remember the Leo IU day held at Sunway Lagoon Amphitheatre? The one with the kutu rock malay band who wouldn’t get off the stage no matter how many times the emcee (Karanbir Singh!) tried to shoo them away? Havoc! It was a tradition for the Leo Club Service Director to cry at every IU(coz shit usually happens).
This is Jolyn, KY’s guest!
KY acting cute.
Later fly go in.
I didn’t mean to do that – if you know what I’m talking about. Just so happen only. Promise!!
We arrived at the hotel at about 3.30pm and there wasn’t much time left for us to go around Orchard Road as we had to get ready – the party was at 6.00pm!! I was cooped up in the room trying to get ready with Audrey who came over to borrow some make up. Your eyebrow trimmer still with me leh!
As with any Nuffnang parties, this was of course, a costume party. Guests had to go dressed as something that began with the letter V, P, O, S or T. The alphabets were assigned in the invitations to the bloggers. It was all very last minute and I had already thought of what I wanted to wear to this Singapore party. I didn’t even know it was that huge. I thought it was a small gathering between bloggers from both countries.
I really really wanted to wear the white dress my grandmother made for me with a christmasey red glittery ribbon, so I simply cooked up something according to my assigned letter P. Present seemed to fit perfectly, what with the ribbon and all. Preparing for costume parties are expensive you know! I couldn’t possibly put together a costume within days. It involves eBaying, mall hopping and some DIYing.
Kenny came over to borrow scissors to cut the eyeholes in his SGD40 mask. His alphabet was O so he went as old man. Haha, he was saying that almost everyone suggested that he go as an Orange, Orang Utan or Ogre. So unglamorous!
I’m loving my kua cheong eyelashes. 🙂
Blame Chee Kiang, he took quite a while to come back from buying his Levis jeans.
Alright, I’m done making excuses to camwhore. It’s fun, I like it, so there.
Wish I had a bigger bow though.
While waiting for the lift to come up.
Oooh, ooh I forgot to mention. Chee Kiang went as a Japanese footballer since he bought the jersey(sama sama lazy). Otaka, Otawa or Onizuka…or something. Can’t remember what it was.
Chee Kiang and Ming, who went as an ACS schoolboy.
Myself and Ming.
Everyone had their photos taken with this backdrop and as door gifts, they had our photos printed on stamps that could actually be used!!
One with Tim and Aud. Tim came as a Popstar and Audrey came as a Virgin Bride. It was a running joke that virgin brides are fictional characters.
The party was held at a club called DXO and check out those spiky walls!
The people from vPost even came dressed in their costumes. There was a Prom Queen there too!
I saw more than a few Bryanboy types around. In my opinion, gay boys in Malaysia are more straight looking but these Singapore boys took the effort to look pretty and fashionable. I’ve met more than a few gay people (less lesbians though, don’t know why) and the impression I get is that they are mostly metrosexual/handsome and not pretty and feminine like their Singapore counterparts. But Singapore or Malaysia, the saying is still the same: It’s always the good looking ones! Damn!
I have to take good care of my guest you know. 🙂
Myself and cheeky Nicholas. He didn’t want me to appear taller than him so he made me stand a few steps back. Got optical illusion right?
Nuffies hard at work.
Check out Vivien’s hot geeky student look. She pulls of andro fashion really well! Like her Michael Jackson look for the Nuffnang Halloween Party, it was macho and feminine at the same time.
Kenny the Old Man and Ginny who came as a Playboy Bunny.
Jolyn who is awesome at cosplaying came as a Tailor. Very clever of her to use the measuring tapes to make a dress! With the hat she looks like a character out of a Roald Dahl story book.
Cindy came as Venus, The Goddess of Love.
Robyn, whom I think didn’t come as anything.
This guy is SO adorable! He came as “Paranoid”. He was runner up for best dressed! I think his name was Timothy as well. Pity that I didn’t get his blog address.
Myself and the old man.
As the co-founder of Nuffnang with the Singapore side under his belt, Ming gave a short speech before we headed to the generous array on the buffet table.
I wasn’t kidding. I’ve never seen such huge portions at buffets.
l-r: Ryli, Myself and Nab. Two new friends whom I made from the party.
Meet Ju Ann! I was enthralled by her glittery wings and so I made friends with her. Turns out she has been working in Singapore for quite a while now and is actually a Malaysian. Best part is that she actually lives in SS17 while I live in SS18! 😀 What a coincidence!
She too brought her boyfriend along. He came as Typhoon Victim. Hahaha. She came as a Tooth Fairy by the way.
And like any of the Nuffnang costume parties, they gave away prizes for best dressed male and female.
Paranoid doing his thang.
Some of the bloggers at the party. Didn’t really get to say hello to everyone as we were a minority there and are not familiar with the blogging scene down south.
Paranoid damn sexy.
This guy went as “Typical Ben”. I don’t understand the moniker but he really got me fooled! I thought he was a real girl! His body puts mine to shame (a feat that is not too difficult actually). And his mannerisms are not disgusting you know, it’s actually gentle and demure.
See! So pretty!!
More of the bloggers looking on.
Ryli who got second runner up for her Peacock costume.
Cindy and her Venus costume.
Audrey as a virgin bride, blowing kisses to the crowd.
She eventually won best dressed.
The voting system was by applying tiny strips of post-its on any part of their body.
Everyone was clamouring to place stick their votes.
I was all for Paranoid to win!
There would obviously be Santarinas at a Christmas Party. I didn’t get their names though!
Jayden(the one in the suspenders), who won himself two return tickets to Hong Kong with a 5 days 4 nights expense fully paid trip with his cute video. At least I think so.
Found Wai Ping sitting at a corner, feeling very tired. She’s going to go finish her degree in Melbourne soon, so no more Pinky@Nuffnang to send us ads no more! 🙁
Kenny was made to go up to sing ‘I Saw My Mummy Kissing Santa Claus’ but he didn’t know the words! How can you not know the song, Kenny! It’s a nice song!
Ooo!!! Fireangel was there too. 🙂 She came as Suanie’s guest.
Since I’ve never taken any photos with KY before despite seeing him so many times at blogging events, decided that this time I really really should! That’s Firdaus who hopped right in before the shutter went off.
l-r: Hui Wen, Myself and Yee Hou. Huiwen is one of the Nuffies for the Singapore side and she went as Princess Jasmine! Yee Hou…ahh..Pimp ah?
Raine and myself. SIA Stewardess!
After the event and delicious Milk Chocolate Suckao at Max Brenner (since the venue was only next to Esplanade), we went back to the hotel.
The tag I made last minute to go with my lame excuse of a costume.
The mess I made. Chee Kiang doesn’t need his space, he’s a man!
At about 1am, we got a little hungry so we walked out to the McDonalds opposite Marriot. Have to go through the underpass and all that, which was quite fun, especially with the both of us wearing the hotel slippers out.
If you can see a man walking towards us in the photo prior to this one, that same man told Chee Kiang to go pose with the wall. So he did. The man was right, it does have quite a nice effect with the abstract looking background.
My turn!
When we went back to the hotel, we didn’t dare look at the soles of the slippers. Sure damn black one. Ugh!
Awesome MNG window display!
Chee Kiang was kepoing into The Living Room. I think it’s a bar at the hotel. We were denied entry due to our attire!
Speaking of denied entries, I never get denied entry into any clubs/bars now when I’m properly dressed. =( =( Â =( I must accept the fact that I look the older side of 21. Sigh.
Crazy one some people. Who wanna party/drink till 6am?
Doesn’t his t-shirt looks like a nice long t-shirt dress on me? I’m thinking of getting one to wear it over my dresses. Very cute! Might even look nicer if I pair it up with a cincher.
Attempting to climb up the Christmas treee.
Copy cat me.
The following morning, we woke up early(9.30am, very early already!) to have breakfast at Subway. Subway in Singapore is heeeeaaaven for they have pork which maketh Subway! Chee Kiang went back to the hotel for a swim while I speed-shopped at Far East Plaza. Bought myself a pair of brown suede flats with fringes!
NO NEED EXCUSE! *Proud camwhorer*
I love the water features surrounding the walk way into JW Marriott. However, I find it strange that the cafe overshadows the entrance into the hotel. It’s like the entrance is not magnificient enough given the hotel’s stature and reputation.
Can die one lor if you fall off the top of the Christmas tree.
While making my way to the swimming pool, I snooped around the hotel a bit.
Hope no one was behind those doors, looking at me and thinking that I’m weird.
Lou kong ngor fan lei lah.
Look at those sundecks! Sooooo relaxing.
We totally made full use of our time at the Marriott since we’re only coming back in..like never. Gorgeous hotel that students like us could only dream of staying at. THANK YOU VPOST THANK YOU NUFFNANG I LOVE UUu!
I CAMWHORE OK WANNA TAKAU
The area nearer to me is like at most half a foot deep. And then from where the jets are, the pool is of normal depth.
New shoes! SGD15 only!
So nice, as a boy you can just go swimming in your lycra/rayon underpants. Or was it trunks? 🙁 So naughty never remind me to bring my swimming stuff.
See how happy he is! Thank you Vpost!! Thank you Nuffnang!!!
This is the life!
My boyfriend coming back to me, commando style. Hmm. Not naked, naked. but you know, those crawling commandos? Is there a better term so that this doesn’t sound dirty?
Love this picture. 🙂 <3
Baik Rambut Hari!
Ahahaha, my 22 year old son, splashing around. Gwai la gwai la.
Emo hand in water shot.
*insert lanci msn emoticon
Nah vPost this is for you!
Chee Kiang’s James Bond moment. I remember a screenshot of Daniel Craig looking out from the water, with the same serious, sun blinded expression.
There was a poolside wedding there as well! So beautiful lah the flower deco.
The pristine looking bar.
The rooms with their private jacuzzis probably cost a bomb!
No, we didn’t go to the Spa. WE WISH!
Me and my affinity towards glittery stuff. *sigh*
Chee Kiang insisted that we checked out the gym.
I have to say it is indeed VERY impressive!
There’s even a basketball court! Which is quite strange because I’m pretty sure if anybody paid good money to stay at the Marriot, they would just lie in bed the whole day and watch TV if they have already seen all the touristy spots in Singapore.
Chee Kiang helped himself to two bottles of mineral water from a fridge at the gym.
I realise I didn’t have photos of the hotel room. There’s a sofa!
The massive LCD tv.
The beautiful bathroom sink with awesome lighting and convenient make-up mirror.
Shower place. Ya I know I’m jakun.
I wanted to tag both of me in Facebook but apparently you can’t tag more than once.
One more hour till check-out. I miss Marriot so much…:( I want to know where I can buy pillows and mattresses just like the ones at the hotel!
After looking at the photos I took the night before, I realised I had not yet taken any pictures with Jason and Robin. How can right? So we grabbed a hold of them while waiting for the rest to come gather at the lobby.
Poor Robb must have been burnt out after all the partying he did the night before.
Yee Hou looked sleepy too.
This is Timothy Teoh(correct surname right?)! He’s one of the Nuffies in the Penang office.
Chee Ching is one of the extremely hardworking interns at Nuffnang and she did the arrangements for the Malaysian bloggers to go down to Singapore.
Nicholas so cute here! Hahhaaha
Firdaus and me~!
Poor Yee Hou caught a bad cold from Singapore. Jason gives his respect to vPost.
What island is that?
We were smart enough to tapau Subway sandwiches (Subway Melts for me ALL THE TIME!) and made the entire bus jealous. Nicholas damn ambil kesempatan.
dis iz good shit. NICHOLAS!! *pinch*
Wai Ping shared with me some original Pocky! My great big love Rocky is actually a Pocky knock-off. I’ve only just put one and one together. :\
Vernice, the new Nuffie and Yee Hou.
Since Kah Kit (Wai Ping’s bf, also our junior from school) was coming to fetch her, we tumpanged a ride from him back to Subang. He also stays in the same housing area as me and his mum was my dad’s colleague back in Lam Soon. Subang so small right! So while waiting, I finally had the chance to see the Nuffnang office. Love the walls!
The infamous Nuffie Corner. Or something.
The view is amazing!! It’s so..metropolitan.
The other side.
Other parts of the office.
Alrightz, I’m done with this post! Time to get cracking on those oral pathology/perio/whatever notes. Ta!
