Three Distinctions, Japanese Buffet and Practical Classes

Posted on May 17, 2007February 8, 2008 by Jolene

Exam results are out!!

AND I GOT THREE DISTINCTIONS OUT OF FOUR SUBJECTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I received even ONE distinction I would’ve been shouting like mad in joy. But I got three! Tiga! San! Sam! (Wait, let me go check google.) Trois! Drei! τρία!

Bwahaha this is to all those who left comments in my blog prior to my exams, making me more worried by asking me, “Wah!! So free to blog? No need to study!? WAHH!! How come you got so much time?”

LOL. Sorry lah…. I know I wasn’t the most hard working person around. This took me by surprise as well. This is Jolene Lai who never gets any A’s, you know! People are genuinely happy for me because it is so unexpected!

And Lie Yuen got three A’s too! 😀 😀

Okay, enough about that!

Last weekend, Chee Kiang came up and we all went to Penang to catch a movie (Next!) at Queen’s Bay!(bumped into Lilian there as well! What a lovely surprise!) and had the most wonderful time scoffing down japanese food at the japanese buffet at Equatorial Hotel. Oh god damn delicious..damn damn damn delicious. All the salmon in the world was before me and I ate till I nearly exploded!

The hotel is really really beautiful! Situated atop a hill, the night view was damn nice also.

Chee Kiang and I

Chee Kiang and Jon, his former college mate and current uni mate!(Sheares Hall mates too!)

I asked the waiter if they had salt for me to put on my oysters but he said they didn’t serve salt there. I’m like, “Whattt?” and reached for the soya sauce instead. :\ Still good. Oysters are .. the…. best….. ohhhhh!!! I love oysters so much. I can eat like 20 in one seating. Only during buffets la. Otherwise I got no money to pay for the bill!

Chawan Mushi!!

Lie Yuen and Nien looking very pretty here!

Jon loves oysters too! 😀

Nien and her boyfriend Bryan. We kinda crashed their date by joining in and inviting a few friends(Jon and Lie Yuen) hahahhaa.. Too bad, japanese food > friendship.

We love our raw food *almost* as much as we love each other.

My personalised miso soup and I literally filled the whole bowl with spring onion! Just the way I like it! And that’s my obligatory, compulsory, MUST-HAVE salmon slices, california roll and some new found love: Slices of octopus.

Idako, cooked mussels, MORE OYSTERS, and another california roll! Are you hungry yet?:P

Lie Yuen looks so nice in this photo! See the way her hand bends? So feminine and seductive! Mmm.

I think this was Chee Kiang’s serving.

At one point, we both wiped our mouths at the exact same moment with the exact same action. Damn shy wei, kena laughed at by the rest. 🙁

Sukiyaki! YumMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. Come to think of it, the dish i cooked on Sunday night, tasted abit like that. It was chicken fillet(sliced), onions and dark soya sauce. With garlic and oil and some water of course!

Lie Yuen was so happy when we told her that she was eating Doraemon’s food.

Nien couldn’t stand eating the oysters despite trying all sorts of sauces with her. (I was the one who encouraged her to use soya sauce while the rest made her eat the oysters with normal sauces).

Since it was quite busy at the restaurant, I decided to help myself.

The lot of us who were bursting at the seams.
l-r: Jon, CHee Kiang, Me, Lie Yuen, Nien and Bryan.

Camwhoring after dinner.

After dinner, we took a stroll around the jungle-cum-garden in the hotel.

Chee Kiang and I, again.

And there was a suspended bridge!

We were trying to take couply couply photos because apparently we don’t really know how to pose ‘couply’, according to Lie Yuen and Nien.

See, we must spoil the photos one.

But we’re good at making little scenes.

The hotel is seriously very pretty. You were right, Brenda.(who ffked us because she didn’t sleep the night before as she was celebrating her bestfriend’s birthday party at Batu Feringghi the whole night!)

So they are also quite good at making scenes too.

I did mention that the hotel was situated on a hill right? *sighs*

Who would’ve thought I could enjoy myself so much in the northern region of Malaysia?(sorry lah, Kedah=boring. Never really ventured out much).

Even the swimming pool is so breath taking. Apparently there’s a waterfall(that rocky cave thingie) during the day.

More of the night view.

The other side of the swimming pool!

Admiring the view together. Forgive my boyfriend’s backside.

And since I’ve been taking photos during my practical, I’m going to put some up.

This is an extensive Class 1 cavity. I think it’s also a Class 2 cavity? Not sure..:( It’s done when there are fillings that needs to be removed.

See the little holes I made? Those are for the retention of the amalgam!

Ta-daaah.

And then during Dental Technology, we surveyed our model to see where the undercuts(areas between the gum and the sides of the teeth) are.

And then we added the bite rims to our base plate. And smoothening the wax is the next step.

Now, THIS is truly a Class 2 cavity. It’s quite extensive. Not minimal at all. Also mostly to remove a previous restoration. I mean usually, we cannot remove too much of tooth substance. Must practice conservative dentistry!;D

See my shiny amalgam!:D With it’s marginal ridge all shaped out! *damn proud*

And this is the minimal class 1 cavity. To remove caries lah this one. Here I am, carrying out the acid etching step.(making the surface of the cavity rough so that micro mechanical retention can happen.

See my completed restorations. Neat or not?

My hair was in the way so I had to pin it up. Damn gross looking right! which is the reason for this photo.

Might as well take one more photo ya?

Forgot to put this photo up! This was taken in the bus on the way back to SP. Thanks to Lie Yuen, I had hydrated eyes!

By the way, sometime last week, we saw this guy all decked out in Cosplay gear. Lie Yuen said that it’s a character from Naruto. Very brave. The whole block was like talking, “Eh! got ninja!”.. It’s like you walked past the people and you can hear other people talking about the ninja.

From behind. Damn brave seriously. Salute salute. I would have gone up and asked if I can take a picture with him..but the decision arrived too late. He was gone before I knew it. Like a……..NINJA.

Oh! I’m also in this crazy phase of downloading games. I’m trying to get an emulator to support Nintendo games like Super Mario Bros on my z610i. Can anybody help?

Imagine how happy I was when I saw that the game Dance Dance Revolution was available on the website which I am currently advertising for. Go download themes and games and many more!! Very fun! I downloaded a few themes already! Rm2.50 per theme only!!

I’ll never be bored again. I have a friggin game console(at least which satisfies me.. I’m not talking about you hard core gamers. *action face*)

Damn late already. I’ll reply the comments in the post below tomorrow or something.

congrats on your strings of distinction!

Looks like a good meal to me and Lie Yuen beat you to post first. Hohoho… Try raw oysters with lemon only, really good if fresh enough. Very pretty pictures of you guys in the restaurant. =)

I’m sure Lie Yuen briefed you on the Akatsuki (暁 – means daybreak). I agree that he’s really brave, but i’m more concerned with the damn hot weather la. will sweat like hell under the robe. Here’s a pic of cosplayers:-

All passed ???!?!!! That’s another indication on why Malaysian educational standard is deteriorating. I certainly wouldn’t go to a dentist got an AIMST degree.

And one more thing, stop posting ugly people picture like you and your friends, I am eating by the way.

    Cheers,

jo: our dean has had a vast experience in setting up dental schools. He was the dean for a uni in the UK and was previously a dean in Hong Kong University. And for your information, most of my classmates got like straight A’s for their STPM(but not A+ which is why they couldn’t get into the public uni to do dentistry.)

and not everybody can get into Melbourne University like you, yoyoman. I’m sorry my father doesn’t shit gold bars like yours.

This is oone of the rare modules that everybody passed. People have had to repeat a year before. three from last year in fact. and 10 of us had to resit for a paper.

lol, i kind of miss getting flamed.

WELL FUCK YOU! Do you get some kind of sick satisfaction when you’ve verified your own beauty by putting others down?

And funny how people who want to call people ugly cannot be comfortable with their own identity.. but just merely hiding behind a pathetic veil of anonymity.

    😛

    first off, Congratulations!

secondly.. omgoodness. equatorial SO nice!!!! I wanna go tooOO!!

thirdly, I have a love hate relationship with oysters. It needs to have a sauce that is sufficiently strong enough to kill the really fishy smell.. Although, i love mussels though.. and yes, you’ve managed to make me hungry.

That’s all.. well, that i can think of atm anyway:P

jo: bwahhaha beautiful ain’t it! the view especially! hahahahah.. great success to methen.:D do u like salmon?

Hello Jolene. I came across your blog recently and I’ve been checking it out everytime I log online, which is almost every other day. I like your posts, keep up the good job ! 🙂

I’m from Penang and I have to agree, Kampachi in Equatorial Hotel Penang serves yummy Jap food. You should try the food in Golden Phoenix (the Chinese restaurant in the hotel) as well. The food is really good. When I went back to M’sia in Feb, I went there for my Valentine’s dinner and I was glad to find out that the food in Golden Phoenix is still as good as it was before I left.

As Jose wrote above, you should try eating raw oysters with some lemon juice. It’s delicious! There’s a place in Gurney which serves real fresh oysters. It’s an outdoor restaurant situated near Gurney Hotel, which serves seafood. I can’t remember the name though.

Anyway, congratulations on your good grades. Study hard and don’t let any nasty comments distract you from your studies.

jo: 😀 thank you!! that really made my day..:)

Kampachi’s food is SO good. If I had a bigger allowance I’d go there more. 🙁 chinese food eh? No buffet I suppose?:( I’m all for sharks fin soup, brocolli with mushroom and butter prawns. Ohhhhh…..!!!

hahaha.. nono, i’m sticking with my salt! EH REALLY AR i’ll get my classmate brenda to bring me there the next time i go..:) yum!

hehehe, thank you. thought no one noticed that little dispute going on. asshole;p

I’m glad to see that they’re using surveyers there.

The fillings don’t look very conservative to me, but I guess that the caries extended pretty far.

Nice to see people take pride in their work.
