After class on Wednesday, Lie Yuen had to drive back to Permatang Pauh, Penang, to pass her grandma some medicine. Brenda and I tagged along for the half hour journey(of which I managed to finish my microbiology report in the car. I rock!) We had so much fun talking about all the things….people our age, are..er..learning to talk about. *coughs incessantly*
I’ve been to her grandma’s place before. Almost a year ago and took many nice photos there! Blogdrive seems to be having another one of its shitty downtime(harhar! I’m using wordpress..ne ne ni bu bu).
Naturally, with the aid of sunlight and green padi fields that stretched on for kilometers on end, the three of us went trigger happy. Behold!
A very traditional way of carrying food.
We saw this adorable chicken sitting under a bush. Could it be prepping itself for some egg laying session?
I thought a photo of the car looking out to such visually pleasing natural greenery would be nice.
The jakun strikes the kampung.
The winds were strong that day.
We chanced upon these pretty pink flowers.
And did what we had to do.
A mini pond surrounded by young padi.
I love this melancholic photo of Lie Yuen.
Another view of the village and its fields. The little mountain behind used to be much higher. Lie Yuen’s great grandfather owned it and along the way, some people stole some soil from the mountain to be sold. Apparently the thieves received extremely bad luck. The Cursed Hill Of Permatang Pauh. *thunder rumbles*
Excuse me while I go trigger happy. I am after all the city girl who gets excited at the sight of the lands which spawn my people’s staple diet.
COCONUTS UP CLOSE! So beautiful!
Brenda’s quite the jakun too!
What do you do if you have an umbrella, an open field and a camera?
You pretend to be Mary Poppins of course!
Not faking lah, the winds were THAT strong.
See? Her skirt caught the wind:)
I LOVE THIS PHOTO. Hahahahha. Thanks Brenda.
And Brenda loves this photo too! But I think the motorbike really make spoil lah.
I wanted them to run towards me. But they burst out laughing. Fail dot com dot my.
As always, looking for innovative ways to insert my face.
Meet the friendly farmer!
I asked the farmers, “HELLO! Lain kali boleh kita tolong menanam padi??”
And they were like, “Bolehhhh!”
Then Brenda asked, “Tak ada ular ke, tak bahaya ke? Kena pakai but tak?”
And they answered, “Tak bahaya!”
So set la, the next time we go back to permatang pauh, we’ll get some yellow rubber boots ala Phua Chu Kang and help the farmers..er..farm.
I believe that as a Malaysian, one must at least attempt to dip their feet into the paddy fields once and pluck one stalk out. And take photo! Definitely must take photo.
The jakun remains amazed. Malaysian farmers up close and personal wei!
While Brenda was on the phone, I had some fun with the camera.
Some more water and open fields.
I thought this photo looked quite nice. Though my feet look edematous. But still got that whole village girl look. I like!
Brenda had her revenge.
I layaned her.
And I took advantage of the wind. Or did the wind took advantage of me? *confused*
We saw a lone motorbike parked at the side of the tar road. So the Mat Rempit in me emerged.
It’s all about framing the picture, catching the wind and there you have it, a fake motorcycle rider. It’s my MSN display picture now. The comments I get are damn priceless. Dennis said he’ll give me RM50 if I bring my pink bicycle to a bunch of rempits and ask them if they’ll take on my challenge.
And every Mat Rempit must have a girlfriend, right?
Another innovative camwhoring idea: Running into the distance.
Jumping too…
Once again, not a fake photo. The wind broke Lie Yuen’s grandma’s umbrella.
“What do I do now!!?” Lie Yuen screamed while the umbrella flapped uglily in the wind.
“Say sorry to your grandmother.” I said.
A dog and some mandarin orange(YAY!!! It’s that time of the year) peels.
Doesn’t the dog look like a cow?
One last photo in our efforts to maximize the benefits of the sunlight.
One of the little girls in the village. She was SO adorable. So cute and fat and round!
Lie Yuen’s nephew enjoys eating chicken drum stick underneath the sofa. Strange little boy.
Brenda wants her future baby to look exactly like that!
We rushed back to Sungai Petani just in time for Jamie and Li Shen’s birthday which was held at Seventeen cafe. Cze-Yin stole all the Visit Malaysia 2007 booklets from the cafeteria as it contained free drinks coupon from Seventeen Cafe. So we had free drinks.:D

Cze Yin and the Nugget monster.
Jamie and Li Shen were born on the exact same day and they are of the same age! They have both turned 21. AND… get this..they were born in the same hospital! Assunta!! Omg! I was born in Assunta too….Anybody born on the 16th of January(yesyes my birthday is coming, who forget, I kill you!) 1987 in Assunta?? I want to know!
Just imagine, their cots could’ve been like, right next to each other. And they met again in university. Damn cool.

Just to layan the friends there, I obeyed their requests of scaring the boys with my so called hamsapness.
Sometimes I think my function in a group of friends is the Ah Kua (transvestite) that people hire for bachelors’/old men’s birthdays.
L-r: Brenda, Cze-Yin, me and narjit.
The Ah Kua goes at it again. Here I am pretending to bite a certain body part of Cze-Yin’s.
One last hiau por photo before I sign off.
ok, time to hit the books.
