I’m Forcing You To Listen To Me Sing.

As I have forced Mun Teng hence the previous password protection. Hehe.

It was a Saturday afternoon and I was home alone, so I made use of the emptiness to belt out some songs. No Lie Yuen to throw a textbook at me to ask me to shut up. Hahaha. The few songs that I know. I might’ve put it up before, but I can’t remember. Yesyes, I expect comments. There are some mistakes here and there, but there are parts which I think I can be quite happy with. You may go all Simon Cowell on me. Heart of steel, baby. *thumps chest* Heart of steel.

I’ve always loved Christina Aguilera’s Hurt and would sing it whenever I mop the floor or do the dishes. I screwed up somewhere towards the end. So don’t laugh too hard.

Somewhere Out There – Mouse Version. Hahaha. I used to annoy esther, Mun Teng and Li Peng with this back in form3.

“A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes” is okayy.. but please close your ears when it comes to the Pinocchio one. I accidentally sang in a British accent in the beginning. I know. waht the fuck. Hahaha.

Another all time favourite, When Christmas Comes To Town –

All Cried Out. One of my favourite songs to belt out in the bathroom. I don’t know the whole song though.-

Okay! That’s it! =) I enjoy doing this, you may choose to laugh if you want.

Doing What One Would Do When Sunlight Streams In/Penang Dental Conference/Cze-Yin’s Birthday

Two weeks more to the first module exams. 🙂 I’ve only just begun printing notes. Champion lah, Jolene Lai.

The handbook took ages to come and us being us, we can’t really study if we don’t see the schedule in black and white.

It’s always nice to receive the handbook. Which is more of a file actually. What is freakin’ great about third year is that there would only be a dentistry paper per term. Meaning twice a year instead of the usual four. But there will still be practical exams which will come with a few questions, so it doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t study at all lah.
But hey, about thirty topics in the medical subjects….I’d say that’s pretty good! Compared to 2nd year, I had to study 300 topics for my finals. Ho mai God. So glad that it’s over now. The poor year 2s are so suffering now. I keep seeing their complaints in their MSN nicks and their blogs. Hahahaha. Feel the pain!!

OH! Right! THE BEST PART about year 3 is that we no longer have Problem Based Learning sessions! At least it wasn’t mentioned. So happy that I don’t have to spend time cracking my head over things I don’t know and pretending to know.

Before I go on, I found something in my cousin Kwan Yean’s friendster account! Speaking of whom, we actually share the same great grandmother but we’ve not seen each other for years on end. Like since 1992. Long story. But hey! A photo of me(he doesn’t know that it’s me in the photo 🙁 ) in a long lost cousin’s friendster account:

I’m the baby. Hahaha. He’s the younger boy and the other boy is his older brother Kwan Hoe. If you remember my cousin brother Kwan Hoong from other posts, yeah, these are his older first cousins. I’m guessing it was taken in 1987 as I didn’t look like I was already one years old. Kwan Hoong and my brother were still enjoying a swim.

L-r: Aunty Susie, Grandma, Uncle Alex, Mum, Me The Mohawkian, Greatgrandma(she passed away when I was 5), GrandAunty, GrandUncle, Kwan Hoe, Uncle Cheong, Aunty Jasmine, Aunty Mei Kuen and Granddad. I think this was taken in Cameron Highlands.

Due to some reasons, I was never close to the two boys. Well, hardly boys. One has three kids now and the younger one is working in Singapore. I always make it a point to get to know all my cousins better but these are one of the few whom I hardly see. Not even during Chinese new years. Yet I’m so close to Kwan Hoong and his sister Kai Ning.

I would be really sad if my greatgrandchildren are practically strangers to each other.

Anyway, moving on to happier things, look at my hair!! When my dad was a baby, he had the same hairstyle too(it’s natural!). I wonder if my babies will have the same hairstyle?
Now, what else but random photos from when the beautiful evening sunlight streamed into my class on a Wednesday afternoon:

When Lie Yuen went to the cafeteria to buy Milo Ais, Andy sat at her place and scribbled on her notes.

Unfortunately only the chinese-eds would be able to read it. It’s like the how strawberry is pronounced as Si Tor Peh Lei in cantonese.

All of it. -__-

My milo ais came from the canteen. I then hurried to the window to take opportunity of the sunlight(and the free period). Andy considered joining me.

Clearly he was being his bodoh self lah. Hahaha.

And now, presenting an overload of photos of me! Deal with it!

Trying to go for that innocent 3 year old look. The I’m-aware-that-you’re-taking-a-photo-of-me-Daddy,-so-I-will-smile look.

Thank god for braces.

The classmates were taking a breather before english class.

Ee Chean’s the one behind the soduku and Sett’s the one behind the plastic thing.

Andy trying out some moves he learnt from emo canto-pop singers.

My sudoku obsessed classmates.

Something that is Jimmy in shape.

That’s the biggest my eyes can go. Sorry ah.

The bottom lip sucked in(with the aid of the straw), eyes quivering look.

This one goes so well with my favourite word of the moment, “Meh.” I know I’m a bit behind when it comes to using “meh”. It’s become so appropriate and useful as of late.

I swear my vision became blurry after doing this pose for so many shots. My eyes got a little cock-eyed too.

Andy dirasuk hantu.

Andy kap lui.

Can you see my shadow? 🙂

Now for the long face-good hair day series.

The coquettish hiding behind the milo bag look.

A warm inviting smi- oh I give up. Whatever fuck. Lazy to think of so many captions for all my stupid expressions. Hahaha.

Oh, I like these ones. Hahaha. See my face.

Then see this one.

Commercial break! If you must know, this is the view that I was looking out at while camwhoring.

Now, see the cheeks.

Yeah man. I am so talented:D It’s like I have a detachable upper face. Haha.

There’s just so much fun you can have with a window, a semi-rolled up blind and lots of sunlight.

Desmond made me take a picture of Ebby to use for ‘future purposes’. Beats me what he’s up to.

He was actually fixing the projector in our class. So much for being high tech. Our dean was really angry with the equipments and the lack of personnel to tend to it. So are we, sir, so are we.

This looks like one of those photos in the newspapers when criminals rush out of the courtroom, hoping to avoid reporters.

I had a competition(another one!) with Poh Yee to see who won when it came to Most Oily Face. I won! Mine is so damn oily that it looks as if there is a hole in the middle of the oil blotter.

Desmond and his pained smile.

I had to tickle him to make him smile more.(Notice how he’s hunched over)

Favourite past time.

🙂 🙂 🙂 It’s just one of those days when my hair behaves so well. *sings*

Nien’s highlights could be seen under the sun!

Last one I promise.

Another way to curb the boredom during english classes.

You can’t tell who is who, but there are hints. And I like it!! 🙂

Last weekend, I went to Penang for a dental conference organized by the Malaysian Dental Association(North Zone). There were a few talks about endodontics and implants. Implants seem like a really lucrative field. Orthodontics is apparently no longer the rage. An implant can set a patient back about RM3000 and the procedure is carried out over a course of 3 months. Compared with an orthodontic patient who pays you RM3000 over a period of 3 years. 🙂 You do the maths. Lie Yuen’s dermatologist once told us that an orthodontist can earn up to RM200,000 a month. No kidding. I’m not sure if he’s kidding. Maybe RM100,000? So imagine how much an implantologist can bring home.

Waking up at 5am is such a foreign concept. I woke up, made my bed and heard the Azan prayers in the distance and felt damn weird. Usually I would hear the Azan prayers BEFORE I go to bed.

We had roti bakar for breakfast in Penang.
l-r: Ah Thong, Maxis and Ee Chean.

l-r: Zhu Zen, Cze-Yin, Me, Lie Yuen.

Andy and Nien.

Nien’s dad paid for our breakfast. Thank you, Uncle!! Nien’s dad is also a dentist. There are actually two other classmates whose dads are dentists too. Nien’s second brother is also a dentist who is currently working in Singapore. Her eldest brother and her third brother are doctors. A family of doctors. Her mum’s occupation is, according to her, raising and taking care of doctors. Hahahaha.

A nice candid shot of the two of them. What more with the lovely colours of the morning sun. 🙂 I love pretty colours, just can’t get enough of it!

The view from here was spectacular.

Isn’t it gorgeous?

And here’s one without an orange filter.

The conference also doubled up as an exhibition for dental companies to promote their products.

These are some of the hand instruments.

I think that’s an extractor! But I wouldn’t know because I’ll only be learning tooth extraction at the end of the year. =) I know you’re expecting me to say, “I can’t wait!!” but in actual fact I’m quite scared. :\ And for our anesthesia classes, I heard that we might have to practice on each other. Maybe not using the anesthetic drugs but just learning how to use the needle on each other. Arghh!!

Bottles of amalgams!

Burs!!:) These are used for drilling into your teeth!

More hand instruments.

The one that resembles the McDonald logo is actually to chest the edentulous(without teeth) patient’s occlusal plane before administering dentures.

Impression trays! People who have had braces would remember biting into something gooey before they had their braces done. 🙂

In the hall.

Oh so diligently taking notes.

One of the fun things about having braces was being able to choose what colour we wanted our smiles to be. 😀

And introducing, microscopy in dentistry. Or at least something like it.

It is to be used with laser. Instead of cutting with a bur, lasers are also used. Not so sure about precision… as usually when you drill with the bur, you can gauge by touch. With laser, I can assume it would be harder. They were working on a piece of chicken fillet.

And with a tooth. I didn’t stay around to see how the cavity turned out.

This feels like pasar malam. hahaha, but we had fun looking at all the instruments. 🙂

l-r: Zhu Zen, Nien, Cze-Yin, Lie Yuen, Brenda and myself.

Another one in the toilet.

If my orthodontist had the pink colour retainer box, I would have worn my retainers every night. They are such a nuisance! hehe, I know I shouldn’t be saying this.

I can’t remember what instrument this was but apparently most instruments that come with a fibre-optic light to aid vision is yellow in colour. But a white light is so much better!

The things they have in dentistry these days. It’s a light curing unit, with protective glasses. -_-

And I don’t know why the glasses had to come in the form of the ones my dad used to wear in the 70s.

Stepping out of my university’s simulatory lab, we’re like little kids let loose in a candy store. There are so many other innovations that we’ve never known about! Given that most are modified versions of the things that we already have. Like this colourful polishing kit.

Sexy sharp burs!

Burs and more burs.

I don’t think patients are allowed to choose the amalgam capsules according to their colours. Each colour probably represents a different type of amalgam. If not, I would definitely go for the pink one. hehe.

It can’t be used on teeth, or can it? it’s so huge!!

I can’t remember but I *think* these are part of the things they used for implants.

The sales rep was showing us the intensity of the light on his light curing unit.

Composite for tooth coloured restorations:)

One of the coolest thing I saw at the exhibition was the patient management software! No more pens and you can just drag the treatments from the sidebar and put it on which ever tooth that you’re working on. The price appears automatically at the bottom.

There are other functions like automatic sms reminders being sent out to patients to come for their next appointment. There are even images of treatments to show the patient before your proceed with the procedure. You can even scribble at the side of the images and make notes. I like!!

We actually bothered taking notes during the conference.

And this is all the guys took.

I think Lie Yuen was drawing some cartoon. Hahahaha.

Maxis doing his usual thing. So did I actually hahaha. Andy called me “Sleeping Beauty”(he’s just being nice. Aww.) and called Maxis the “sleeping Beast”. LOL.

This rubber dam looks so much thicker than the one we use.

Gahhh!! We never knew there was a machine to melt wax! All those hours we spent putting the spatula over the bunsen burner. 🙁 🙁

Oh hello there sexy light curing unit!

Cheek retractors with lights! How cool! So ….sci-fi.

This was my favourite tool of the lot. A rubber tipped plastic instrument. Or whatever it is that is used to shape composite restorations. The ones we have back in uni are made out of metal and so the composite gets stuck on to it as we try to drag them into a nice shape. I guess they are trying to let us learn the hard way. Which is for the better, I suppose. 🙁 but with this instrument, if I wanted to make a heartshaped tooth, I can! It’s really easy to use.

RM200. We were thinking of buying it and share it among ourselves. We’d get brilliant results. 🙂

A matrix band dispenser. How interesting.

I used my gorilla pod to take this shot.

During the lunch break, we spoke to two young dentists who joined our table. They gave us a lot of advice about what to do with our career. One of them is still undergoing her government service and so we got a confirmation from her that yes, it’s true that a fresh grad’s pay would be RM2.9k in the peninsula. However, if we go over to Sabah and Sarawak, it would be about a thousand ringgit more. 🙂 wow.

Then we turned to the one who has started working in the private sector and meekly asked for the starting pay in the private sector. “About RM5000”.

YAYYYYYYY. I’ll probably get criticized for being money minded but I won’t deny the fact that I know that dentistry is a lucrative profession. Which is why I’m here in the first place. Those painful years of deciding what interests me and gets me the moolah. It’s also fortunate that I enjoy what I’m studying. 🙂

Since it was a two days conference, we booked a place at Vistana. I bumped into Nicole Lee(at least I think that’s her surname) on Saturday night. Friends from school would remember her from the 1985 batch. It was just so surreal to bump into a high school friend all the way in Penang. 🙂 Even seeing Leonard (1988 batch, Interactor, remember guys?) around university makes me feel happy. Like a piece of Subang Jaya has come to see me. hahaha. But it’s nice to see familiar faces so far away from home. I know lah Australia and Uk is further, but this is far enough for me. 🙂

There were three rooms and nine of us stayed the night.

The dining area. I didn’t take photos of every corner though as we were rushing out for dinner(and a session of one of the most LAMEST COLLECTION OF LAME JOKES EVER.)

Why is the sea blue?
Coz the fishes say, “bloo(p) bloo(p) bloo(p)”

After a very difficult self-restraining stroll around Queensbay (Maybank account left RM60 only. Donations anyone? I’ll pay you back when I go into the private sector. Hahaha)

Maxis and I relaxing at the Ogawa exhibition.

Cze-Yin … I think she was tickled. I HOPE she was tickled. :S

YES!! First time on the iGallop after eyeing it forlornly for the past three years. So what if it looks gross, it’s actually quite comfortable. Hehe. It’s like the fun you derive from bouncing on those balls at the gym. Or like the horses that move when you insert 50 cents. I’m so innocent I cannot think of anymore examples. hahaha.

Ee Chean had a go to. (Notice how I’m still in the photo. Hehehe, didn’t want to get off!)

At night, I just had to gush at Ee Chean’s super cute mattress. I mean a guy like him, 22 years old and quite matured for his age too, carrying a teddy bear mattress. So cute!! He said that it was the only mattress available at home.

So cute lah the bears.

Startled expressions.

Feeding time!

… I’m confused. What do you think Mama bear is doing?

We played a few rounds of snap before turning in for the night.

And so that sums up my Penang Dental Conference Trip!

Now for more photos from my camera.

They’ve finally filled the lake(or rather the space for the lake) with water.

The photos don’t do any justice to it. In fact it makes the water look dirty, but it’s actually really pretty as the water was lapping the sides of the lake while the wind blew to make little waves.

Long time no see.

Nice or not?! My Class IV preparation (a chip in the corner of the anterior teeth). Look at the boundaries man, it’s so freaking smooth. If I close my eyes and run my nail over the surface, I can’t even tell when the composite ends and when the fake tooth starts. =) I love it.

Under normal lighting. If it was on a real tooth, it would be almost invisible.

Even from the back it looks pretty good. I know I’ve been doing a lot of self praising… just let me be. ;\

After completing our conservative classes, we were allowed to work on mounted natural teeth. On the right is a shoddy example of my mesial-occlusal-distal amalgam restoration. Not proud of it. I can’t carve fissures for nuts. 🙁 But you should see some of the amalgam restorations in the teeth I collected. The amalgam surfaces are flat! How to bite you tell me??
On the left is another one of my better composite restorations. 🙂 Yay!

Cze-Yin turned 22 recently. Pretty soon she’ll be having grandchildren.

l-r: Narjit, Cze-Yin, Brenda, Pei Zhi and Angela.

Lie Yuen and the birthday girl lady.

As usual, birthdays are usually a class thing. 🙂

And one with me inside! Thanks Lie Yuen! <3

The latecomers! l-r: Jeeva, Jeya and Fizah.

I always love the way birthday candles turn out in photos.

I’m guessing Cze-Yin’s wish was, “I wish that Jolene will stop bullying me.” Hahaha, so not happening, Woman. So not happening.

She said that she smiles better without her teeth. hahaha. Whatever lah.

OHMYGOD DONE DONE!! *runs away from the computer*

The GymGo-er Who Lost RM2000 In The Gym Locker

Mun Teng showed me this bulletin from Friendster.

Tuesday night i went to california fitness gym at sunway pyramid. As usual i used the combination padlock to secure my locker room. After 2 hours, when i came back, i was shocked that my belongings are gone, just left my t-shirt and towel.I reported to the gym, n they blaimed me for not using the KEY padlock, and there is a notice sticked at the locker room , n it is written in the agreement that i have signed.

I refered back to the agreement(which normally ppl dun care to read- or maybe they purposely make it so long so that ppl wont read)- YEs it does mention that any losses or stolen, they are not responsible for it.

BUt, it is stated that COMBINATION PADLOCK is not RECOMMENDED…. NOT RECOMMENDED i honestly believe that means it is not Suggested, and which means it is allowed! and we can use it! Dont u agree?? And I believe it is their responsibility to ensure that they provide a SAFE and SECURED environment for GymGoers to workout.

BEsides that, it is very inconvenient for us to bring the key along, esp when ur jogging on the treadmill, and the sauna room restricted metal stuffs. How m i supposed to use a KEY Padlock???? anyway, i requested to view at the cctv, and they said i need to lodge a police report 1st.

I DID that, n they asked me to wait, coz they need to seek approval from HONG KONG HQ thru E-MAIL! i was pissed off… it seems like they are not taking any responsibilities and taking this matter lightly. They also claim that there is no point of me viewing the CCTV, coz the angle of the CCTV is focusing on their workers itself.HEY!!! What’s the point of u having CCTV then?? To check whether ur workers are touching each others at the Front Desk??

I admit, i might have neglected the notice, but still…. i strongly believe that they should take responsibility of us consumers. We paid for such environment after all…

I suffered an estimated RM2000 loss. Wallet- IC, credit card, ATM card (The Thief managed to withdraw all my money), Student ID, Cash RM100) Hand Phone. A book i borrowed from the library(AUS200) and brand new Pants i’ve juz bought. misc.

From what i’ve been told, there are many cases like this b4, but none of them made a police report, n i assume they dun care bout this matter.

Do i have the right to blame the gym?

I need some advice from those who have read this and some support.

I’m not going to take sides but in a way it is an issue. As for Mun Teng, she feels that the guy deserves support. Of course I sympathize with anybody who loses such a huge amount of money. As I’m supposed to raise awareness for this poor fella’s troubles(and see if there are any other customers with similiar problems), I’m pretty sure that he will lose in his battle against California Fitness. No offense dude.

Firstly, there was already a notice saying that the combination lock is not recommended. But he used the combo lock anyway. That’s California Fitness’ trump card there already. But he has a point to rebutt as there is also a notice that no metal things are allowed into the sauna. This is a lose-lose situation.

However, California Fitness will still have the upper hand as I’m sure any respectable fitness centre(or carpark etc.. wherever expensive items are temporarily placed), there will surely be a notice that says, “Use locker/Park car at your own risk.” The company is immediately free of any responsibilities. Or are they? I mean to what extent does the company need to be responsible for their customers’ losses?

The guy is obviously frustrated by all the red tape that he had to go through in order to find the culprits(albeit, unsuccessfully.). I would too.

So what do you think? Does it seem as if the fitness centre took the matter lightly or would it still be the customer’s fault?

Loving Tofu, Malls and Boutiques.

It’s kind of obvious how tiring my week has been seeing as I’ve not touched this blog in over a week. I went back to Subang over the Raya Break and came back to Kedah a happy, happy HAPPY girl. I told my parents how inconvenient it is that I do not have a car here and that I did not want to really rely on my friends for the whole five years(though I do chip in for petrol, but still! Manpower?) and since they would help me get a car when I start working, why not earlier?

So YAY!! I’m getting a car by February! This is because the resale(resell?) value would be higher if it’s a 2008 car.

Oh, oh. A Myvi. 🙂 Over the past week, I was straining my head left and right while on the road to check out the available colours. At first I was totally smitten by how sexy the mocca silver looks. It’s like Ash-grey. Then I was seriously contemplating getting the red car as it would be so vroom-vroom. Heard that the colour fades though! Then I thought white would be so sweet too! The orange colour on the website looked so ugly that I didn’t even take it into consideration but I’ve seen it on the road a few times now and goshhhh.. it’s so beautiful! It’s like burgundy but metallic. Don’t know why they still call it orange as it is in more of a chocolate-red-brownish kind of hue. 🙂

Thanks dad, thanks mum. 🙂 Thank you so much. 🙂

I went to the only go-able shopping mall in Sungai Petani a few days ago and got these from my favourite gift shop.

A tofu tissue box and tofu seat belt wrappies! It’s like I’m expecting a baby and buying all these baby things in anticipation. Hehehe.

I’m like on a tofu craze! All these japanese toys really boggle the mind as you see it everywhere and have no idea what they are called! But thank goodness, with 11 years of internet experience under my belt, I managed to dig through forums and japanese online shops, and now I know that I’ve been lusting after the Hannari tofu! It’s so fucking cute!

I don’t think the tofus that I’ve bought are original but it’s just as cute! It’s quite expensive, about SGD35 for one of those tofus. I think I’d be just as happy looking at the cute tofu plush toys on Flickr and eBay. Here are some photos that I’ve nicked off the net:

According to a forum, for a set of four Hannari tofus, I can get it from Penang for RM 100.

Hannari tofu keychains!

There’s actually a pretty huge variety of Hannari tofus. 🙂

This is apparently a wrist rest that vibrates.

The Sesame Hannari Tofu.

The rice Hannari Tofu.

I’m thinking some kind of bun hannari tofu?

Strawberry Pie or Apple Pie Hannari Tofu. So love!!

This is probably the cutest. Tempura Hannari Tofu, complete with seaweed wrapped around it. Hehe.

Carrot cake Hannari Tofu.

I tried looking for the name of my pudding but to no avail. I actually wanted the tofu from Singapore but Chee Kiang accidentally bought the pudding one for me. Which I really really love as well. It’s damn nice to hug. The last time I hugged something to sleep was when I was 7. He was a Wombat from Australia named Digger. He was so popular with my family that he started developing personalities. I even have photographs of him posing around my garden.(Dad bought me my first analogue camera when I got number 1 in class in standard 3. *gloat*)

Anyway, back to the pudding. I don’t know its name. 🙁 All I know is that it is designed by the good people at Actioncity.com.my and that I’ll be making a beeline for the outlet at One Utama when I go back to Subang.

The only photos I found of my darling pudding is behind this girl’s head. I WANT IT ALLLLLL!!! So kawaii!

I know it’s like I’ve reached my second childhood but I can’t help myself. I’ve recently developed this fixation on these ‘trendy giftshops’. My malaysian favourite is SnJ. Actioncity and Minitoons are from Singapore and they’ve recently opened branches in Malaysia and I would be squealing like an annoying teenager that the whole school hates whenever I see any of the outlets.

While searching for Japanese plushies, I came across these. Initially, my very innocent mind thought that I’ve finally found the dimsum edition of these Japanese plushies. Paus, here I come!!

Then I thought that the ‘hat’ for these ‘paus’ were a little suggestive.

Super WTF okay. Go read the write up about these Funmari Milk-Chan (Fluffy Milk). I’ve never ever imagined that boobs can be made into soft toys. If anyone knows how I can get my hands on one, let me know!! And if you know of a shop selling the original Hannari tofus..let me know also:)

The brown colour boob is supposed to be damn nigga with a pierced nipple and all. I think the cutest one is the middle one. According to its biodata(I know!! wtf!!) on the website, it has always been a small Funmari Milk-Chan but it aspires to be big one day.

I was thinking that dicks would probably look too gross… and vaginas can actually be quite cute if they design it properly. I’m thinking two bananas side by side to create the shape, a cute tongue sticking out(blek~!) and some afro for hair. I’ll just leave it to the japs.

And now to the part my poor best friend has been waiting damn long for. Hehehhee. Mel and I paid the new Sunway Pyramid a visit when I went back during the Raya break. It wasn’t as empty as I thought it would be. It had that hollow feel to it but I suppose it’s still in its initial stages. I can’t believe it has finally open its doors. I’ve been waiting since 2004!

Just what we need! Another Starbucks! I don’t get all these malls expansion, why have two of the same outlets?

Mel’s beautiful new hair and me.

I’ve been reading about Beautilicious in the Cleo magazines and was all hyped up about it because of its beautiful packaging. With pink as its trademark colour, you would think that the company would indulge their customers in soft pastels and shimmery hues. Give it a cotton candy feel to it.

But I opened the pallete and was horrified by the choice of hues they used. It’s like I went back to the 80s. It’s almost as if they used primary colours and didn’t bother to blend it to suit current trends. No, they didn’t even have dark natural colours. I’m not a fan of lip glosses but there were a few there. Poh Yee did buy one over the weekend so I suppose it’s not all that bad. How bad can lip glosses get? But the eyeshadows were so wrong.

It has been so long since the ‘Welcome Home Dahlings!’ Team(we’re the only three Dahlings left in Malaysia, and whenever any of the overseas Dahlings decides to grace Malaysia with their return, we’re there for yamchas and shopping sessions!)
met up for a serious bout of shopping. But that’s the case, when you say to each other, “let’s go get some shopping done!” and you’ll come home empty handed. Sigh. We decided to go down to Boutiques Heaven aka Bangsar. But being thick in the torso and bigger in bones than the average Malaysian girl, I was sorely disappointed and trying my very best to muffle the tearing sounds of the bursting seams while trying on pieces after pieces of depressing garments.

The three of us camwhoring with Bangsar in the background.

We first entered a shoe shop called elo.

I love the way they arrange their shoes according to hues. I’ve been buying shoes with heels as of late. I’ve always been a little self concious with my height, but I’ve decided that heels are the way to go. So what if I’m taller than two thirds of the men in this country?(and can see bald spots and dandruffs on many Malaysian girls) Flats no more!

Shoes shoes shoes. Why do shoes garner a love that is deeper than a love felt for dresses and other clothings?

Blook! One of the Holy Grails of Malaysian boutiques.

Mel having a quick pose outside Blook.

I must not miss out.

Next up, something that I’ve been reading in Female: GOSSIPS! Woot. But the customer service there is below par. So it wasn’t a pleasant experience.

Nice deco though. In fact, very nice.

The other two top boutiques. I always always always end up buying something whenever I step into a Cats Whiskers boutique. No need to put photos of the interior la ha? Any Malaysian girl would have seen the inside of a Cats Whiskers boutique at least once. Heh. 🙂

Mooie! The boutique with the super cute name.

I think among all the boutiques, the people behind Mooie are the most creative. The price tags are damn cute. “For RM35,I’m all yours.”

Pads for the heels!

It looks like a cafe.

These boutique people really know how to utilize the sunlight to make their stuff look extra delicious.

They were lacking in the sensitivity department though. Don’t they know that their customers come in all shape and sizes? 🙁 The curse of the Lai family. Damn boobs.

Mel trying out her “50 cents! 50 cents!” pose. Inside joke from high school days. Hehehe.

Oh, turns out that I do have photos from inside Little.Black.Book.

Little.Black.Book should ALSO cater to women of larger sizes. I can never remember EVER fitting in to any of their tops. The skirts that they stock are slightly common, so I usually give the bottoms a pass(but to give myself credit, I can usually fit into the bottoms). But the tops are damn nice!! *grabs boobs and cries pitifully*

One day, Little.Black.Book, one day. *wags finger*

How very quaint. 🙂

A discreetly slutty yet comfortable top for class.

For the times when my tutors deduct my practical class marks based on my dressing. We’re not supposed to wear t-shirts and jeans no more for lab. Must be professional bla bla. Well, fine by me. It just means more trips to the boutiques. What to do. Teacher say must go shopping. :\

Okay, stupidness aside, I’ve been meaning to get a satin top for ages! It’s nice and can be used as “formal wear”. I could do with one more. 🙂

A shop that looks promising and is carrying our very favourite word: SALE! I didn’t check it out but according to Mun Teng, they usually stock working clothes and dinner dresses.

I went into Musse, not PurpleDotz as Mun Teng and Mel told me that purpledots wasn’t that nice. So we gave it a miss.

I think this was inside Musse. I wasn’t particular impressed with the selection but the decor was pretty!

Eh wait, I’m confused. I think I actually went up to Dress To The Nines anyway. Then which is the one with working clothes and formal wear?? *scratches head*

On the way up to Baci.

I needed one too! In this photo, I didn’t bother liquifying my tummy. I thought that I might actually indulge in a bit of maternal glow in photos for once. 🙂 Don’t I look nice and motherly? Shopping for baby things, buying a blue bath towel if it’s a boy, buying a pink one if it’s a girl. Sigh. Crap, biological clock going off again. *hits the snooze button*

Amos! *Skeptical voice* It’s innnnteresting.. but the “EVERYTHING FOR RM30” was definitely nice. I’m not sure if the generous sale is still on.

Another thing that is interesting is the huge variety of malibus that were on sale. Oh, if only I needed a malibu. 🙁

When Mel saw this shrug she was offended, “Uhh!! Poor Oscar had to die for this!”. I couldn’t stop laughing as I was imagining Oscar being skinned for a shrug and more images of Save Oscar protests and campaigns popped into my head.

A day before I went back to Kedah, I went to the new Pyramid with my mum for one last time. Decided to take more photos of the place for the benefit of my friends who are overseas and are missing home. I was asking my mum if she feels proud of the new Pyramid. When she looked blankly at me, I told her that Pyramid is in the vicinity of our hometown. Just like how one would feel proud of Malaysia whenever it is mentioned in something huge and international(In the Da Vinci Code, there was apparently a Swiss bank(the high security one?) in Kuala Lumpur. Woooo..). That’s the way I feel about Sunway Pyramid whenever I read about it in the papers.

My friends and I grew up in Sunway Pyramid. We learned more about freedom at Sunway Pyramid. Outings sans parents, first exposures to Purikura photos, buying Starbucks with our own allowances, laughing at out-of-towners on the ice skating ring..the list goes on. It was the place to go after every major exam! After PMR, we watched Serendipity and were fetched home by my father, hehe. After SPM, we went to Zen to celebrate, where I cried because my camera got doused in water and died after the chemistry paper 3. After A-levels, we went to do some shopping. -_-

I love Sunway Pyramid! But the parking sucks serious ass.

Xixili! Not like I can afford anything from there.

Shu Uemura! Maybe one day I will pluck up the courage to buy a bottle of the make up remover oil that is oh so good.

Here you go, Forever 21 fans. You rich brats, you. It’s gonna be huuuuge!!

Another Body Shop? For what?

Just thought that you might enjoy a view from the top floor of the new wing.

Under the Blue dome! Apparently the areas are named after the domes that they are under.

LuluBelle! Pink overload seriously. Being an appreciator of the colour pink, I actually felt dizzy after coming out of the place.

Ta-da!! The aforementioned Mini Toons somewhere high up my post. I really love soft toys with a velvety touch to it. But it must not be a conventional soft toy.. bear face, dog face, out!! I want inanimate objects type of plushies. 🙂 Weird creatures are accepted too. Like octopus and deranged looking Stitches.

<3 I know I’m too old for this.

Stickers and curtains and rugs…oh my..

MUSHROOM!! TORTOISE!! And strangely, Chip and Dale.

Mahjong plushies. Mannnn!

Lego calendar. Go figure!

The cutest notepads that I’ve seen in such a long time.

I’ve never heard of the brand. The shops in the new wings are seriously big. Think Midvalley. The shops in Midvalley are usually quite big ya even though the brands are unheard of!

Treats!! Beautiful clothes and persistent sales assistants. No problem. I’ve got a problem with ugly clothes and persistent sales assistants. The people that are hired to work at Treats are probably trained to be as pushy and as persistent as possible. The branches in Ikano and Hartamas have sales assistants with the exact same ‘enthusiasm’ for their jobs. And it actually works because the things that are pushed into your hands will actually look good when you try them on! It’s the kind of clothes that you frown at when you see it on the racks. So the secret is to try everything you see. 🙂

Another shoe shop. I think there’s a branch in Midvalley.

Wow. Damn big.

Hahahhaa. Machines. It’s really huge too.

A view of the outside. Looks quite bare. Almost as if cars are not allowed into this part of the mall.

Strange. Too bare lah. They should add a fountain, like something outside Ngee Ann City at Singapore. Now that’s grand!

Gotta love the effort in making fly overs for our convenience!

It really dwarfes the humans. Oh I know how to describe it!! Very Putrajaya. *nods smartly*

I’d like to have a word with the architects who worked on the building. Ew.

At least one is able to walk to the old wing along the periphery of the building.

Marks and Spencer! My mum was reminiscing about her sweater that she bought from Marks and Spencer in Scotland, when she was there to study music. It’s apparently still quite good until now and is now being worn by my grandmother’s maid. As for me, my memory of Marks and Spencer was at the KLCC branch back in form5 when Chee Kiang, Gaya, Wern Cheen and myself started exclaiming loudly about how cheap everything was. “Wah!! RM50 for handwash! So cheap!! Let’s buy three! RM150 only what!”

When I saw the name of the shop and the colour theme, I was bubbling withe excitement. A cute boutique perhaps?? I peered in only to see many ugly bags. Bleh. At least make the bags cute if you’re to opt for a cute name like Lollipops. I’ve heard from Mel that it’s quite an ‘atas’ brand. Like how people fawn over LV bags. I can never understand how people can fall over themselves to land their hands on something so crude looking. Furthermore, it’s reputation has been tainted by the peddlars down at Petaling Street(and anywhere else in the world where there are Chinese).

One random photo before I turn in for the night:

A big lizard eating a smaller lizard. It was really scary. The lizard is almost as long as my palm. He probably had one lizard too many.
