You know, EVERYTHING I predicted in the blog entry came true!! Hahahahaha!! While they were grumbling, I was laughing my ass off because in my head I was going, “Check, check, check..” ticking off the events that I predicted in my blog. They really asked if they really had to take their slippers off before coming into the house and they asked if I have any extra slippers to lend them.
My father went to kepo at my washing machine and exclaimed to the family with a tinge of amusement in his voice, “Eh! Come see this!!” He was talking about the cob web that joins the softener to the tap. About 1 foot apart.
They even made comments about the door handle, the wasp nest, the leaking ceiling(my Uncle Terry is worried that the fungus will start to stink. But I assure him it’ll all be cleared up once it stops raining. And it did clear up today!). My cousin sister Shevie didn’t go check out the chick lits as I predicted, but she DID make her way towards my entire shelf level of Cleos(I’ve got about 2 years worth of Cleo magazines here in Kedah and Shevie helped herself to half a year’s worth of Cleos. Take la take la I love you muah). AND she really made her way back to the CORNER of my bed. AND my aunty Judy said that she felt like cleaning my whole house. Well, slightly off tangent there as I predicted my mum to say that instead. When I asked my mum if she felt like cleaning my house, she said, “No.”
I hereby charge RM99 for my clairvoyant services.
All I can say is THANK GOD they didn’t see the bird nests forming behind my blinds. *continues to clear fallen twigs off printer and ironing board which are situated next to the window*
Well, Penang was… not fun in a Penang Holiday sense.. more of a family familiarity comfortableness kinda thing. For one, I didn’t get to eat hawker food as they’ve already covered Gurney’s foodcourt on Thursday night.
My entire family came to visit the labs at my campus. Quite strange to have my family among my classmates. Yeah, and then I brought them back to my house and we all know what happened there. I brought them to check out the new campus at Semeling.
Ughhh.. when students like us enter the campus in a car, we get reprimanded by the security guard and get questioned abit. But when you have a bunch of adults going in, they just smile and nod enthusiastically at my father when he tells them his purpose of visit, and wave us in. Suckups.
Jam jam jam to Penang.
My dad made me take this photo.
The poor Penangites.
We stayed at Paradise Sandy Beach hotel. It’s got a lovely view of the sea!
On Friday night, we went to Bayview’s Revolving restaurant for dinner. That’s Shevie and my godma, Aunty Susie.
Mum and I.
Well, YOU try taking a long shutter speed photo on a revolving restaurant and we’ll see what you can come up with.
left row l-r: Godpa Alex(Kaiyeah), Godma Susie(Kaima)… I’ll just refer to them as Kaima and Kaiyeah. I feel like such a flake calling them Uncle and Aunty. Bleh., Dad, Cousin Shevie.
right row l-r: Uncle Terry(Koocheong), Aunty Judy (Kooma)…ditto. I’ll stick to my roots and call them by their chinese titles, Mum and myself.
Dad and his younger sister, Kaima. They do look alike, don’t they?
Tsk, tsk, still bullying his younger sister. He used to make her cry alot as a child. Then my grandmother would take the cane out and whack my father. LOL.
Me looking at Koocheong filming us.
Shevie and I utilizing some mirrors.
Dad and I and a closed buffet tray.
It was also my parents’ wedding anniversary! They’re marriage is 21 years old this year!
The size of the cake was small because we were all stuffed anyway.
Koo Cheong’s birthday was the day before and so we celebrated it for him as well!
Dad and mum blowing out their candle together.
The next day, we went to Kek Lok Si. )##&@#^$(*%. No one told me that it involved alot of climbing.
And I feel so disrespectful for forgetting the Uncle in front of Kaiyeah’s name. And Aunt Ausie? Wtf is an Aunt Ausie? Damn fat fingers of mine..
I quite like the concept that Kek Lok Si used along their stairs. The wares that were peddled were pretty good too! Batik sleeping gown(I’m wearing one now) and RM3 floral shorts? Game!
Of course, with salespeople pushing their wares at you, Dad and I pretended to be foreigners. So foreign that the language has never even been heard before. It was a good tactic to get rid of persistent peddlers.
Dad: Ho sha buje ino ka de ses wa eh?
Me: Bo sha mono juni bukali ta de se.
Dad: Asa! Mola tutu ni me joh!!
Me: Asaaaa.
My mum wanted to join in.
Mum: Choco matte!
*dad and I ran away*
Dad: Ka yapun! (cantonese translation: fake japanese!)
Dad tried to see if my Kooma could understand what we were trying to do. She tried to join in as well.
Kooma: Konichiwa!
*dad and I ran away again*
They were SO giving us away.
Dad the paparazzi.
Imagine, the amount of kangkung wasted on those tortoises. Should give me mah. 🙁 Dad was saying that someone said to him, “Buy kangkung and feed the tortoises to have longevity and prosperity!” and Dad replied, “Ceh, I’ve been feeding three pigs for 20 over years, and yet I don’t prosper all that much.”
🙁 🙁 🙁 I’m not a pig.
L-r: Koo Cheong, Dad, Koo Ma.
Tortoises sunbathing.
That’s Shevie drinking. And the rest of the family behind.
Yes, one of my very few camwhored photos that included ALOT of the background scenery. Great Sukses~.
Kek Lok Si is not exactly a very… obvious temple. So, Kooma, mum and I were wondering aloud, “Which way to take ar?” and then suddenly we heard a voice, “Both ways also can…”. We turned around and saw that it came from a beggar who was sitting on the ground. We were too startled but managed to mumble a thank you before moving away to break into giggles. We couldn’t get over it. A beggar speaking in english?!?!
And after laughing, we felt so horrible. We forgot to give the english speaking beggar some spare change. 🙁 People so kind give directions somemore. Haih.
Koo Cheong was saying that another beggar lady told him, “Have a good day.”
My dad reckons they must’ve picked it up from the tourists.
I found something that resembled by pet dog. Same nose. Same mouth.
Blablabla temple photo bla bla bla.
More stairs to climb hence the face.
Camwhoring while waiting for the rain to subside.
Ahm’a cow gurl. Yee ha~!
We wanted to take an authentic Lai photo.
L-r: Jolene Lai, Arthur Lai, Susie Lai, Judy Lai.
Mervyn Lai was at home studying for his mid terms AND HACKING my blog. ^#$%$#^$#%$!!
The non-Lais. Minus the PMSing Shevie who was crouching on the floor at the time.
l-r: Alex Leong, Ho Siok Yan, Terence Clare.
The Lai family(nucleus).
Minus one at home studying and one boarding at the pet shop.
My Kooma and Koo Cheong who dote on all three of us kids. It’s always fun fun FUN whenever they are back in town. My Kooma looked annoyed when I told her that my dad won’t let me parade around in my bikini.
Godparents and my mum. Shevie was on the floor, still. Poor thing, stomach cramps.
Apom malik! So cheap lah, don’t know how the poor guy made any money. 10 pieces and he only charged RM7. Haih.
This is the life………….ah fuck..finals coming.. *starts crying*
Anyway, here’s a view of the hotel.
Koocheong and Kaiyeah wanted to try shi sha. They’ve never tried it before. RM25 okay! The adults didn’t take me seriously when I told them that I know where you can get shi sha for RM12. I only get to have a few puffs of shi sha when I’m with Daryl, Chee Kiang, Justin and Jon. It’s only this combination of people that the shi sha gets ordered.
Shevie looking hot. She’s growing so fast too.. *starts getting teary*
shevie and her cheh cheh.
Shadows and sand = lots of fun.
Fighting.
Handicapped goddess.
Kissing.
Dad and Kaima trying to control the kite.
Shevie being sexy.
Dad and his professional kite. He even bought a windmill to put outside our house to check for wind. If the windmill is moving, he’d be out of the house in a jiffy with his kite in tow.
My dad’s favourite thing to do.
Dirty sea.
There were alot of fishes that were washed ashore.
Kaima and I buried all the fishes along the way.
Shevie was the shell putter.
Shevie and I looking like we’re really really really on holiday.
Nice photo of the wave coming in. Well, that’s as much as you get on the west coast.
I got buried in the sand.
After dinner, we came out for another walk.
Yes, yes. I also don’t know how this photo might look interesting. Just my face and nothing behind.
This is the face my father gives me when I come home too late/buy too many things/get bad results.
Awww, so sweet. *Jolene walks far far away*
The next day, we went to some dam to watch the Dragon Boat festival. SO HOT SO HOT SO HOT. Never again. And you can’t even see the boats properly. But the scenery was damn nice. Who would’ve thought there were cameron highlands-eque type of surrounding in Penang?
You should be able to make out the lanes used in the race.
Kooma’s glasses were so reflective.
After that, we went to this place called Spice Garden. Zzz. I’m not happy because I fell down and my camera and handphone slid in front of me. Damn sad.
Anyway, this photo is to show you how horrendous the groom’s shirt is. He was opting for the Napolean Bonaparte look.
One of the nicer photos I took at Spice Garden.
Copying Shevie’s camwhoring style.
My dad the paparazzi part 2.
Water droplets on a waxy leaf is always beautiful.
I wish my camera had a better macro function.
If only they were all diamonds.. I’d sweep them all into my palm.
There was a swing. But it was occupied for so long so I never got to know how fun the swing was.
Oh here’s a video of a bartender we met at the hotel doing some tricks for us:
Ok the end. Yay. BACK TO THE BOOKS. 3.20am now.
