I was back again for the weekend for my grandfather’s 100 days funeral rites. Whatever that is.
I itchy backside wanted Chee Kiang to fetch me from Pudu instead of my father who usually drives down all the way. I thought it’d make a good impression on my parents that Chee Kiang would come to pick me up since … they sort of know a thing or two about us all these while, just that I’ve played the blur card whenever they ask.
But it was raining cats and dogs and when I reached Pudu, he hasn’t even passed the LDP highway. So my put-on persona of damsel-in-distress had to be stripped off while I made my way back to Subang Jaya with the considerably reliable LRT and KTM systems.
=) When I reached KTM Subang he was there waiting for me already. He had that worried look on because I lost my KTM ticket(I know, I’m so stupid) and we freaked out together on the phone when he said that I would have to pay a RM50 fine. I only had RM30 to my name. Luckily it was only RM1.60 that I had to pay. Phew.
When we were hanging out for awhile more until about 1.30am, dad called and said, “Wahhh haven’t come home. Pak tor until tak sanggup come back ar?”
Then I hit Chee Kiang on his shoulder excitedly and said, “He sort of knows already!!”
Following day, the family and I were at Asia Cafe for lunch, and my father asked again, “Sooo…hold hands already ar?”
Let’s all laugh together-gether. Ha. Ha. HaHAHAHHAHAHAHAA. Ha. *rolls eyes*
I was walking past the fermented toufu shop at that moment and had my fingers up my nostrils and I just looked away shyly from my father and gave a shrug.
Then today during the funeral rites, my Aunty Susie/Godma pestered me, “Eh, when are you going to tell your parents laa? It’s a phase of life. Everybody goes through it. It’s very normal. Why are you so scared to tell them?”
I said, “Haiyoh, paiseh lah!”
So my Aunty Susie and my brother also all itchy backside want my parents to know. We were in Amcorp Mall at one of of the eateries there and they were talking about the usual topic that all middle age women with teens talk about-boyfriends and girlfriends.
“Your mummy should know la, Jo..!” my aunt said.
My mum, still blur, said, “I think she’s confused. Right, Jo?”
My brother butted in, “Celebrated one year anniversary liao la!!”
My mum like cannot hear anything like that. Still acting blur.
My father came back to the table and got wind of it all. He thumped his heart with his hands in a samtong(sakit hati/heart pain) motion.
My parents weren’t at all surprised and they didn’t say much..
In the car back to Subang, my father was telling me about the specs for my new laptop. Then we talked about my transport back from Kedah for the next trip. He said, “Ask your boy boy to fetch you la!”
I nearly vomitted in the car.
“Don’t call until so disgusting can or not?” I scolded back.

After dropping my brother and my cousin Derek in Sunway Pyramid, they fetched me to the KTM Station. I was finally alone with my parents in the car.
“So…how he ask you to go steady la?” my dad kepo-ed.
“Don’t want to tell you,” I said.
“How lah? “Can we go steady?” ah, is it like that? So old fashioned ah!” he kepo-ed again.
“You old fashioned lar, ask me until like that.. hahaha.” I was damn shy already.
“I think he is a good one. Somemore very smart. Good, Jo!” my dad gave his approval.
YAY!!!! Hahaha.
My mum was like, “You can be interested in each other, but don’t get too physical first.”
Uerm, o-kaaay. *rolls eyes*
She continued, “Must find someone who loves you and appreciates you.”
Wah damn pei man. Hahaha. I was like, “orh.” “orh.” “orrrhhhh.” “Orh.” throughout the entire conversation.
Dad gave the last words before I got out of the car, “Remember ar!! In Kedah cannot pak tor, come back only can paktor ar!”
Hahahahahaha. I’m damn happy now that it’s all out in the open. 🙂 Immediately, smsed Ck to let him know. As for him, his parents still don’t know. His dentist knows though. LOL.
Was having outbursts of smiles throughout the entire commuter ride.
