I went back for the weekend, mainly for the purpose of celebrating my 2nd anniversary with Chee Kiang. *blush, blush*. Okay, no need to snort. Contrary to popular belief, I am capable of a little bit of humility every now and then. 🙂 I am not THAT shameless.
Since Amanda touched down on Friday morning, we decided to gather some of the kawanz to go check out Skybar at Trader’s Hotel.
OH OH. And I finally bought my handphone!!!! I’ll take more photos of it and gush about it in a later entry! Don’t want to kill your bandwidth ya since this entry is chock full of photos as it is.
l-r: me, Mun Teng, Esther
The two babes were kind enough to teman me down to Sg. Wang to go lay my hands on the SE z610i and swipe my dad’s credit card(wahaha…which I later pay back in cash of course. 🙁 ) in order to purchase my new baby.
We walked along Jalan Bukit Bintang for quite a bit, strolling in and out of overpriced malls. The christmas deco at KL Plaza was SO beautiful. Too beautiful for words, really.
Like a snow covered pavement leading you further and further away.
The lights were especially enchanting.
Got the both of them to pose abit. Can’t let the pretty lights go to waste.
BerEmo in inside the big pretty swan.
Damn nice lah this pic. Esther, you’re a brilliant photographer.
The background looks damn cartoony. But a nice picture none the less.:)
While browsing around KL Plaza’s Factory Outlet Store, my mum called me and told me that my brother wanted to use the car later. I was really angry because I came back all the way from Kedah and I needed the car that night and it would be a total waste for me to come back if I couldn’t go out that night. And I didn’t really want to ask anybody else to tumpang me.
My brother and I ended up screeching at each other over the phone.
“YOU DON’T SHOUT AT ME!! YOU DON’T TALK TO ME LIKE THAT!!!”
“YOU DON’T TALK TO ME LIKE THAT! I’M ALREADY GIVING YOU THE CAR BY 7.30PM. SHUT UP SHUT UP!!!”
“I ASKED FOR THE CAR FIRST!!!!!!!!”
“YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!”
“FUCKER!!!!!!!!”
Obviously my blood was boiling lor. I was screaming(every alternate sentence of the sentences above) in the middle of FOS and Mun Teng and Esther were trying desperately to get me to calm down. I cibai-ed and mahai-ed out of FOS, feeling close to the point of madness. Yeah, this happens when both siblings have obtained their driving licences.
I received a few phone calls here and there to confirm about skybar and I had no mood to layan and was pretty rude to most of those who called me.(Sorry Chien, Sorry Kev etc). I ran out of credit and took out my new prepaid card. My fingers were fumbling with the plastic wrapper and I started gnashing at the plastic wrapper with my teeth. Esther and Mun Teng were like, “CHILLLLL!!!!!”….Since my upper and lower teeth cannot really meet, it was obviously in vain. Leaning against a pillar, I started rubbing the silver coating against one of the right angles of the pillar to get my top up code.
Esther and Mun Teng said I looked freaky. hahaha. I think they were worried that a security guard might come and drag me away.
I only cooled down when Dennis called me. When I picked up the phone, he started talking in a native Indian accent.
I told him how angry I was with my fucking brother. And he was like, “Your FarkiNG BRaDDer? I nO WaNt To GEt InVolVe WiTh YoUr FArKinG BraDder..”
hahahhaa. he wouldn’t stop talking in his stupid accent.
But at the end I apologized to my brother and he apologized to me as well. He developed a stomache and didn’t go to the gym and cybercafe afterall.
As for me, I got lost on the way to KL… approximately 2 hours. Picking up Esther’s friend, Shawn at Melia Hotel.
Esther’s friend Shawn is from Singapore. His sms to Esther when he crossed the causeway was damn funny. “Saya selamat datang Malaysia. Saya tido malam Melia.” LOL LOL.
And then after picking him up from Melia, I got abit lost looking for Trader’s Hotel, where Skybar is located.
It was pretty dramatic getting everyone to come hang at Sky Bar. Calling for a gathering can actually be damn traumatizing. But it was good. Everyone seemed happy in the end.
Skybar, Lunabar, same concept.
However, SkyBar is very much darker, not as beautifully lit as Luna Bar. Not enough lighting in the swimming pool, me thinks. The lighting in Luna Bar’s swimming pool is far more prettier and romantic.
Furthermore, Sky Bar is much much noisier than Luna Bar. How can hanging out be called hanging out when you can’t even hear what your friends are saying? I don’t know, it’s not exactly clubbing material(heavens forbid, later fall into the swimming pool how?) so the music should be much softer.
The toilets weren’t as bad as some reviews said they were.
Swimming pool was much bigger than Luna Bar’s. Somehow, the place was much warmer than Luna Bar, even if both bars are located on the 33rd floor. I have no photos of the bar because I once got told off at Luna Bar for photographing their bar, but the bar looks out directly across to Luna Bar. Which is like a couple of kilometres away.
Don’t ask me about drinks though. Alcohol anywhere is the same to me.
Service was bad. bad badbadbadbadbadbadbadbadbadbadbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. Since I was driving, I ordered chilled apple juice(yala yala slap me la, i’m so lame) which was RM15. Before I left, I called for the bill. The waiter came up to me, smiled sheepishly and said, “Heehee sorry Maam, just now we forgot to write down what you ordered,”.
I was stunned for a moment, considering the various options laid out for me. I could have easily said water but I paused for awhile and said “I ordered apple juice..”…..
Ohmigod. Imagine the amounts of money the bar is losing. Notepads and pens are not that expensive you know.
The seating area is much more spacious than Luna Bar.
Alright, after my thorough analysis of the bar, I shall go into details about how the night turned out for me: horrific.
Feeling very happy that everybody turned up, I noticed that Chien, Ji Yang and Yijin just arrived. Since I’ve not seen Yijin for a very very long time, I went up to him and smacked his backside REALLY HARD. Like PAAAAAAAAAP!!
Turns out that it wasn’t Yijin.
It wasn’t even anyone I knew.
0_0!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! The guy turned around to look at me and his jaw was slacking in disbelief, in a what-the-hell?! way.
I was like, “OMG OMG OMG OMGÂ I’M SO SORRY!!!!!!”
The guy laughed and was pretty cool about it. Hahaha. Turns out that he was Ji Yang’s friend, Chris from Melbourne. Oh god…..I was still pretty moritified and didn’t attempt any further conversation with him the entire night. LOL.
“That’s you la Jo. People need pick up lines. You don’t need any. You just go straight in for the kill. That’s my Joeybear!” said my ever so wise Dennis Chan Kor Kor.
As if one embarrassing incident per night wasn’t bad enough. Since I fatt hiau go and wear my Red velvet vincci shoes, the one with a gold ribbon around it, I tripped on my gold ribbon and nearly fell into the swimming pool. I tore my ribbon in the process.
Just when you thought that it couldn’t get any worse, my brother called me on the phone and asked me something which I couldn’t comprehend because I couldn’t hear him as the music was far too loud. Especially in the toilet. So I walked out of the ladies to go out to the lobby hoping that it’d be far quieter outside.
At first, I was quite puzzled why the lobby had some basins as well..(while still talking to my brother on the phone). I was SO FREAKING MALU and on top of that I had to squeeze past three men to get out of the male toilet.
It also didn’t help that all my friends were sitting at the table right outside the gents’.
OH SHAME SHAME SHAME!! Hahaha.
Mun Teng and I.
Yijin has been flying in the skies for far too long.
From one end of the bar to the other. Don’t let the lighting mislead you. I set the camera on high exposure and long shutter speed to achieve the pretty lightings. It is far darker than this in real life.
l-r: Dennis, Amanda, Abby
L-r: Me, Esther, Shawn
L-r: Soon Han, Chris, Josh, Mun Teng
Soon Han and me! He is doing his fifth year medicine in IMU and was telling me about the government’s criteria for posting. Turns out that if you are attached, and especially, if you are female, you get to have a say where you want to be posted. He said single guys get thrown far far away into the secluded regions of Malaysia. Yay for me!
I’m only going to mention those who are looking at the camera.
L-r: Yijin, Zhuo Yan, Chien, Amanda. Chien, notice anything different about your skirt?:D
oops. But anyway, l-r: Me, Zhuo Yan
Â
l-r: Hsin and Kev
l-r: Abby, Josh, Me
L-r: Chien, Pei Ni, Hui Shan, Abby, Amanda.
l-r: Vern Yang, Hsin, Myself
L-r: Vern Yang, Hsin, Dennis. Berbodohing by the pool.
L-r: Hsin, me, Abby, Yijin.
I remember laughing after taking this pic.
Yijin was like, “Eh!! Cute guy!!” and Abby turned the camera around and around and said, “Where wor….?”
Yijin pointed at himself, “there, cute guy what!”
Abby said, “NO ark! Got four pretty girls only!” hahahahhahaha. So cute.
Zhuo Yan and Kev, mamak back at Darus after Sky Bar.
The following day, Chee Kiang and I went down to Atrium at Asia Heritage Row to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. 😉
A pretty view of the twin towers.
Ck and I while walking down towards Atrium. Asia Heritage Row was quite quiet as we were there at about 8pm.
Quite an attractive exterior!
Was really really quiet. So strange to be sitting alone, with only one or two other tables occupied.
Admitedly, we don’t do pricey dining much. So i did feel weird getting all dressed up and hoped my parents won’t question me too much. I didn’t want to appear like a little girl trying to grow up too fast. hahaa. Oklah, just humour me. I’m not little. Just young. Well, not young per se, but you know, younger.
Ck’s strawberry marguerita.
mE LoVe StrawbErry, me LoVe Ck! *grabs puke bucket for whoeever who is reading this* Here you go.
My erm, medium rare roasted duck breast with kailan. I felt so….weird to answer the waitress when she asked, “Raw, medium rare or welldone?”
Ck’s grilled salmon.. with caviar. Or something. Tasted quite nice! And was quite filling too even though the portion looked small(for the price he had to pay!)
My darling boyf an I. Thanks dear for taking the effort to come up all the way from Singapore even though you have your big macho carpentry work to attend to back at NUS.
He is involved with his hall’s production and is part of the props committee. Bosche sponsored them a course in handyman-skills and now he knows how to make fake furnitures!
He asked his friend to make me a heart shaped piece of wood(as he is not that fantastic with the saw yet). And he scribbled a message on it. It came as a surprise to me because just a week or two ago, Jimmy made a heart out of plaster of paris for Sock Nee just for fun. I thought it was really sweet that Jimmy bothered to make use of his new found skills to make something cute for Sock Nee. I was thinking how nice it would be if my boyfriend was my classmate and I’d get cutesey things like this too. hahaha. Turns out that all men are just as sweet. The wooden heart is hanging on my corkboard now!
Kepo-ing around the restaurant after dinner. So paiseh, since the waiters were so damn free, they took the time to show us around with extremely huge smiles on their faces. I was abit flustered because I was not used to such hospitality.
The mini dancing floor on the first floor.
The view of the ground floor’s bar from the first floor.
The bar on the first floor.
Another view of the ground floor bar.
One more of Ck and I.
It’s a nice excuse to just dress up and treat ourselves, these anniversaries. heh:) We’ve decided that for our anniversaries, we’ll get things together, not for each other. It’ll be our thing. We’ll be getting it when I go down to Singapore next weekend. You’ll see what it is soon. I’m pretty psyched about it. And for the benefit of my father who reads this blog: No, dad, it’s not a tattoo.
There was a party going on at Bed(a launch party, perhaps?) and they had a bubble machine spewing bubbles all over the place. So very very pretty. 🙂
I’m forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high, nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams they fade and die.
Fortune’s always hiding,
I’ve looked everywhere,
I’m forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air.
it was quite funny how the night turned out. While strolling along Asia heritage row, peering into the many (expensive) bars, clubs and restaurants, Esther called me and asked me if I could come to petaling street. She wanted a lift back since I was in KL as well. She was there with her uni friends who came from out of town/the country.
So the both of us, in his long sleeve shirt and my tube dress, braved the throngs of humans with their humanly adhesive substances(at least that was what their sweat felt like) and looked for Esther amidst the night crowd.
Chee Kiang ended up buying two statement t-shirts while we were there. LOL. I like statement t-shirts too. But can’t find enough of shops that stock em for girls. Guys get the more creative variety. 🙁
I shall go for my afternoon nap now. Will blog about my z610i later!!! IT’S SO DAMN SEXY! It’s true, even my own dad started singing, “Too sexy for your love, too sexy, too sexy…” when he saw the phone. Hehe.
By the way, if you guys watch OC, you’ll know what ‘Group Hang’ in my title means. But it’s not necessarily double dating… I think the meaning is good because it is very..well, literal. I’m suffering from a deficiency of clever sounding titles. 🙁
cheh and I thought skybar had something outstanding than luna – turns out sama concept.. slaps forehead. at least vary a bit la..aiyoyo
Â
Â
jo: haha.. but luna bar is still special to me:) still got that very distinctive magical feeling about it compared to sky bar. Â
