A photoblog about the first week in my new place. My new house is only a kilometre or two away from the university. That aside, I’ve made a major accomplishment in recent times.
Miraculously, on Monday morning, I woke up at 7.49am and could not go back to sleep.(I usually wake up at 9am and class starts at 9.30am -_-;. But nothing can beat my A-levels’ days where I’d wake up at 8.20am for 8.30am classes). I even had the mood to go downstairs and pour myself some koko krunch and milk and read the papers, go online to satisfy my morning internet fix and finally change into something that looks the least crumpled among my un-ironed clothes. (Procrastination is a common disorder among young people).
I was awake for more than an hour before my classes started. I managed to copy every single damn thing the bullet-train Indian lecturer blasted at us and woooohooo my notes were in demand man. MY notes were in demand.
This might not seem much, but coming from the girl who falls asleep for more than 10 minutes in almost every class(but I’ve got a digital recorder to back me up, no worries)…this is a major achievement. So just humour me, can?
Shifting house is a major hassle.
We decided to eat at somewhere nice for our first meal as NON-Hostelites with the other classmates who were staying around our new housing area.
l-r: Lie Yuen, Me, Xin Yi, Brenda
l-r: Pei Zhi, Josiah, Yan Rui and Li Shen
Cheers!!! Down with hostel!! Yeah!!
We ate at this place called Le Boss in Lagenda Heights(an area with loads of shop lots). Yes, yes, Kedah got such things.
Â
My carbonara.. bleurgh. Not great.
On Thursday we had a 5 hours break before our sociology class(yes, why do I even need sociology classes is beyond me). And it was the opening day for Final Destination 3. This marks the first ever movie I’ve watched in Kedah!(scribbles date in diary).
And this is how the opening day of Final Destination 3 in Sungai Petani looks like. 9 of us went for the movie and we had one whole row to ourselves plus the luxury of putting our legs up on the row in front and screaming and clapping without being a nuisance. Final Destination 3 is all about decapitating. Lovely pattern this time around though. Everyone stayed far away from my camera after the movie.
The Vincci in Sg. Petani was on sale. YES. Miracles happen in the strangest of places. Bought these lovely babies for 50% off. RM37!!
I could rub it all over my face, neck, skin, arms, stomach…..sniffing the newness of the tweed-pretending-to-be-velvet finishing propagates me with waves and waves of euphoria…*sniffffffffffff*
I refused to do any laundry before the arrival of The Washing Machine.
A little something to decorate my room with. I brought this photo to show my housemates quite sometime ago and forgot to bring it back to the photo album. This is Mervyn at 0 years old. Fat and heavy. Like a lump of pork! His digits had yet to be formed(See the Doraemon like hands).
The tall papaya tree outside our house at dawn and at dusk!
I could actually *SHOP* in Kedah! Lovely glittery eyeshadow of different shades. Haiyah, cheapo brand only lah.
Somemore wall decorations.. a mirror and two bubble action figurines container. It’s a ritual for my guests(so far only got about 6..) to blow some bubbles when they visit my room.
The front of my room! Poor students buy pink canvas wardrobes.
Shelf=RM66. Wardrobe=RM40. Plastic drawers=RM56
I know it’s quite transparent. Will buy curtains soon.
Blinds=RM30 each. Chair=RM150. Blue plastic Ah Pek table=RM36. Bed frame=RM100. 8 inches mattress=RM300(i need a good sleep). Bed side table=RM55.
This is the whole of Li Shen’s room. It’s crazy. I know. She can like roll all over the place happily in circles at hours on end.
Another angle of Lie Yuen’s room.
Our dining table! 🙂 We got the four plastic chairs for free because we bought so many things from that furniture shop.
The RM20 shoe rack. My housewarming present to our household. 😛
The almighty satisfactory chiropracter-visits-free washing machine. The three of us fight over who gets to press the buttons and pour the soap powder in…etc. RM580.
Our beautiful fridge. I open the door and stare at the peachy glow from its lamp and let the cool air sooth my troubles away..
Oh!! Our first catered meal. Lovely stuff. It’s like homecook food, only better!(heh, kidding mum!) But there’s even herbal soup, herbal egg, poli sang choi, chee yuik etc. All we have to do is leave our tiffin carrier on the pillar and we have dinner at 6.30pm sharp. RM5.50 per meal.
Some decorations for the room. Glow in the dark glittery Hibiscus and Butterflies…. kecantikan!
It glows oh so brightly!!
Â
After our first catered meal, we decided to check out the playground next to our house! Some boys from uni were playing basketball there. They play there every evening. Yeah, the housing area that I’m in has ALOT of students from AIMST. I’d say about 20%.
Lie Yuen having a go on the swings..
Li Shen trying to climb on the poor duck thingie.
Orang tua tak sedar diri!
Orang tua yang sedar diri tapi nak camwhore jugak.
Lie Yuen and her elongated legs!
You’ll know when you’re wayyyy over the age limit for playgrounds is when your legs are as long as the playground ladder.
I used to do this alot as a kid. Balance, balance, balance and then kena marah by grandmother.
The beautiful sunset which can be seen from our garden. Hey, don’t hate us just because we’re staying next to Gunung Jerai.
While I was doing sit ups(no photos, later my market value go down like shit), Lie Yuen peered at me and asked me whether IÂ wanted to go home already or not. I saw the moon behind her and snapped this picture. So nice right!!
Perhaps one of my best shots to date. The effect is damn nice!! I asked Lie Yuen to stand behind the yellow glow of the street lamp, and the tree and the evening sky as a backdrop on slow shutter speed worked wonders!
