The Penang Bloggers’ Gathering and Another Crazy Penang Trip

I guess staying in Sungai Petani does have its perks. I can’t believe I’m saying this. However, with Penang only 45 minutes away from where I am, things aren’t that bad after all. We usually reward ourselves with a little(this is an understatement) bit of shopping in Penang.

It was also because of the Penang Bloggers’ Meet that we decided to head down to Penang.

While waiting for Poh Yee and Cze-Yin, Lie Yuen and I decided to camwhore for abit.

After meeting Brenda and grabbing a quick bite, we then went over to E-gate where the blog meet was held!

It was rather awkward in the beginning because I didn’t know anybody and even if I went through the entire list, I couldn’t remember anybody. But it’s okay, I had Brenda next to me. I was supposed to meet 5xmom and Boss Stewie at the meet…. them being the only two bloggers I know there.

One thing they did though is looking at each and every blog together, which is rather good. That is one thing us KL bloggers didn’t do at our blog meets. It helps us to identify each other better. LogicYuan did a good job! Congrats dude:)

When 5xmom arrived, you could feel the excitement in the air. She’s so much younger looking in real life! And then after exchanging a few pleasantries with her(after knowing her through blogs for almost three years now), she handed me an angpow!(and a rather generous amount was inside too! Apparently the angpow money are all from blogging!)

Pai seh man! And she handed out angpows to everybody!

And this is Linsey! Together with Jason, she is one of those readers-turned-friend whose blog I now frequent too. Very nice girl to talk to! We both studied in Kedah(and felt really upset about…but she is going back to Penang to study now), we’re both ptses and yeah, we’re the same age. Hahaha.

And Lilian and myself!! Hello Lilian! Can’t believe I really went to Penang to meet her. Before I entered dentistry, it was like there were no excuses for me to go to Penang whenever I felt like it. But yeah…it was a surreal experience, definitely. I mean an online friend for what…3 years? That’s a long time in the online world. There are still many online friends whom I’ve not had the chance to meet despite knowing them for years.

And it’s Joosing and Eve! Both of which were at the previous blogmeet that Yee Hou and I organised.

Jason!! I was so excited when I saw his name on the list because it was someone I recognised and would probably never get to meet via normal circumstances! He came over to introduced himself at first but I didn’t recognise him. Only after awhile did it register in my head that he was from jlshyang.blogspot.com. Hahaha. We have a lot of mutual friends and Siew Li, my std6 best friend is in his uni. He is currently trying to scoop up some embarrassing stories about Siew Li on my tagboard. Hahaha.:) Glad to have finally met you, Jason!

And the man of the hour….Boss Stewie/Timothy! Every meet we become more comfortable around each, right or not Boss? Always the smiling gentleman that he is. 🙂 And I’m not treated like VIP la, YOU were. Hahaha.

At 1.30pm and rather embarrassed and guilty by it, Brenda and I finally excused ourselves to go to Queensbay with Lie Yuen, Cze-Yin and Poh Yee who waited for us for one and a half hours.

Queensbay is HUGE. Rather empty, but there was a stretch of boutiques and shoe shops that just went on and on.

Don’t kill me, but I bought four pairs of shoes. Muahahahha.

We had a fun time trying on clothes that we weren’t planning on buying. Cze-Yin however bought the green dress for the upcoming Dental Ball!

And if I use it as a halter, it looks like this. I was also trying to see what I’d look like if I had short hair. Apparently, older.

I felt like ladies who dine in the rich societies when we donned the hats at Somerset.

More clothes trying. Lie Yuen didn’t buy this.

Brenda pan cute again. But you have to admit that that’s a rather nice dress.

After a few hours of shopping, we were all very hungry and grabbed some buns from Breadstory. Mmmmm…

After that, we went into Nichii fashion city which was HUMONGOUS. But I had a great time looking at what the mannequins had on and copied their outfits exactly and headed for the changing rooms for a ball of a time! You know, like photographing myself in things that I would never ever dream of wearing usually.

Something for the office…if I went to one.

it looked very hot on the model. But I must remember that the mannequin’s body is a different story altogether as compared to mine. 🙁

The evening sky around Queensbay looked damn nice. And it was also facing the sea, so we took the opportunity to get some camwhoring done.

A couple came to the beach with their pet poodle. So cute right? I think it’s name is Kimmy or Jimmy. Can’t remember now.

Dinner time! These are otak-otak.

Didn’t try these. I’m not very adventurous, but I do hold a penchant for seafood.

Loklok.. but didn’t have any because we were too stuffed for more.

Someone’s laksa. I don ‘t take spicy food.. so the ‘variety’ of Penang food was rather limited for me.

Mmmm, otak otak is the only spicy thing that I like.

I know lah, please don’t slap me. I went all the way to Penang to eat Maggi Mee. Sigh sigh sigh. I’m such a disappointment.

And that’s a portion of Otak-otak, half an o’chien, a bowl of cintan mee(maggi mee), a coconut, and two cups of watermelon juice. Don’t worry shit all out di. So won’t die of fatness.

Cze-Yin also drank two cups.

Of course I had to let you see my new shoes. I just love them! I spent Rm120 on four pairs. Am I the queen of cheap shopping or what?:D
