The Many Things I Did During My 7 Days Extra-break Post

Posted on May 1, 2007April 24, 2008 by Jolene

I’m not quite sure how I’ll ever be able to get out of this holiday mood. My module 3 assessment finished two weeks ago and finals are only about two and a half months away. Welcome to my world.

I didn’t ask for this extra week of holiday and I’m not entirely ecstatic about having another 7 days to relax at home. I feel so… in limbo.

It’s very hot today and my wireless hardware officially died(no more blogging-while-shitting-time for now), my hair is not being straight because I slept on it while it was still wet and I’m in a very uncomfortable position hunched over my laptop which is propped on my old dual level computer table with my feet on my mum’s 10 year old Rainbow vacuum cleaner. It’s damn functional, it has rollers, is cylindrical in shape, it vacuums, it purifies the air, it makes one hell of a foot stool all right.

It’s also very strange how I didn’t feel the need to go out till after midnight while my mum was away in Hong Kong and my dad in Singapore. Very strange indeed. I was back by 10pm and for a huge chunk of the day I was at home watching the entire season five of Sex And The City on my laptop, flat on my stomach(funny how?the words “flat” and “my stomach” rarely appear in one sentence), episodes after episodes with my dog sleeping on my back. She makes a good blanket.

I was planning to go shopping with a vengeance. But isn’t it always the case? You never seem to find anything when you’re looking. Well, let’s not count friday which consisted of three tops from cats whiskers and three bottoms from a Lala shop in Summit. After one too many incredulous looks on Mel’s face, I told her, “I have to prepare for hard times. I will be stuck in Kedah studying my ass off for my finals and will only be back in August,” to which she nodded back with a very understanding face.

A purple dress with the pleated skirt that I like so much on a dress.. it looks quite alright, I really should’ve bought it when I had the chance.

A nice stripey tailored shirt to look professional when the occasion calls for it. RM24 only! It was at 50% off that’s why. Bottoms and dresses are at 60% off!

At Summit, we were blown away by the extremely cheap clothes. That’s me being damn happy with the RM10 best buys!

We stopped over at Blush and had a good giggle.

Naughty! I actually wanted to go into the changing room to take a photo of myself in it. Hahaha.

I bought a pair of black pants with white stripes. Don’t think the stripes are visible in this photo.

A blue asymetrical skirt for RM20!

And white knee length shorts. I’m beginning to love knee length shorts more and more. I can even wear them for class!

Mel and I were checking out the warehouse sale at the concourse area of Summit and were astounded by the sizes. It was the first time that I could exclaim, “Wow! The clothes damn big.”

I bought a fluffy baby jacket for my future nephew! So cute right!

When you hold it you just don’t want to let go. It’s so precious!

I bought him a pair of dungarees(it’s called a pair right?) too! Imagine how cute my little nephew will look in it! My cousin brother just told me the name today.. I can’t wait for Ethan Ho Chun Lok to be born!! Ethan is such a nice name right? So handsome sounding! My cousin’s grandmother will call the baby by his chinese name because they are afraid that she can’t pronounce his english name and end up calling him, “Yu Tan! Yu Tan!” (fishball! fishball!)

So cute! It makes that big lump of rock(the one driving the car) behind the dungaree look cute too! Miracles of miracles!

And this is my other white tank from Cats Whiskers. RM24!

We were bored and so we put Angel on the pillar.

She seems like she’s enjoying herself up there.

Oooh, about the internet downtime that I experienced over the past few days, I was surprisingly calm about it. Just a little edgy that I couldn’t?get the shopaholic post up in time. But you know what I did? I actually sewed okay. This is coming from the girl who wanted to throw all her shorts away because the top button popped. Oh, it was back in form5 when my stomach got bigger. I bought three tops from Cats Whiskers the other day and when I tried on the black one, I popped all its buttons. But when I pulled the top to the middle(as in to cover my boobs), it looked so nice!! It was then that I knew I had to pick up?a needle and sew my very first button(and four more). It’s not bad at all okay, I wore the top to the SriKL’s sport’s day on Saturday. I was there to see my cousin Shevie cheerlead for her yellow house, and was also there to help her record her routine. We don’t become professionals at sewing in a day. Because I sewed on buttons that were far too small for the holes that were made for it, I was constantly popping the buttons across my chest throughout the day. It was like I was breast feeding an imaginary baby. Ugh. So now I have bigger buttons for my top which meant more sewing. Yay!

I’ve also found the answer to saving some dignity for myself whenever I wear tailored shirts. I sewed on press buttons! Is that what they are called by the way? More buttons mean more strength to hold the shirt together, right? Yea! Now I can look professional without looking fat/slutty. *suddenly gets weird vivid images of an obese cellulite-ridden aging prostitute with heavily done make up and in a teddy.*

Me and my newly sewn buttons on my new black top from Cats Whiskers. It’s only RM22!

Looks like I’m going on and on about what I did since I last blogged. Which I might as well just continue with. Well, when I was at the Sri KL’s Sport’s Day in Shah Alam last Saturday, I was just looking around, checking out the hot studs of tomorrow and downing my sorrow in cans of 100plus while looking at pre-pubescent waists the size of my wrist. It was also fun to see my cousin in a costume that she designed! That girl has talent! And also fun to see her in make up too.

Like every other school, the form ones get suckered into joining the formations. They did a pretty good job!

The conductor was hot!! I know I’m perving. I think he is like…1989. Just fresh out of form5. Damnit, my brother’s age somemore. Ooo..nasty.

My Aunty and I were perving on him together okay. I wasn’t alone! Haha. Too bad I couldn’t get a clearer shot. HSIN EE where were you when I needed you MOST! hahha.

Waists that I would kill for.

Anyway, one very very flattering thing happened. I was looking at this very cute girl messing around with this boy. And he was teasing her blah blah you know how those high school love stories fold. The boy caught my eye and then he smiled at me. In my head I was like, “Huh? Do I know anybody from Sri KL? Hmm.. Reality check, check, checking. Na-ah. I’m too old.” And actually the first thought in my head was that he was some ex form5(we have many ex-form5s now who are younger than me since I left school) from my secondary school.

He came up to me and with agrin he said, “Hey! Jolene Lai!”
I was like, “Hey…hi?”
And he said, “I read your blog!”
My face betrayed my coolness as I gave him the biggest smile, “OH really?? Thank you!! What’s your name?”
“Ismail!” he smiled again and I shook his hand. I later found out that he was my cousin’s classmate back in primary school.

Well, thank you Ismail for saying hello to me the other day. Sure as hell made my day.:)
And also thank you to my cousin Shevie’s funny noisy girlfriends for coming up to tell me that they read my blog thus making me very embarrassed butyesyes, flatteredtoo. Bwahahha.

Kembang sial.

*becomes fatter than I already am*

Yes, I admit it. It’s nice to know that people read you. So if anyone else sees me in the streets, do say hello and make me fat!

I’m suffering from a lack of girlfriends. I blame The Dahlings for their needs to be strong career women thus leaving me, Mel and Mun Teng alone in Subang while they complete their degrees overseas. Mun Teng was busy with her prom and Mel with her assignments. But I managed to drag Mel away for breakfast on Friday, shopping at Summit on Friday afternoon, Sakae Sushi for dinner on Friday followed by a mad ass driving rehearsal to Hartamas as mentioned in the previous post. We had fun filling petrol, making wishes at the Penchala Link, singing to Celine Dion(warbling voices and all?when going over?speed bumps)?and then she had to burst my bubble when she said, “You don’t know the lyrics to the songs that you’re singing, do you?” in reference to my mumbling-singing-along to whatever that’s on the radio. To resonate her post, it really made us miss you girls more. πŸ™ Can’t wait for our big birthday party at the end of the year!

Since Lie Yuen and I were bored, she decided to drive up to Subang to “tour” Subang. I brought her to Subang Parade and she really enjoyed herself there. We then ate delicious food at Pizza Uno(carbonara rocks rocks rocks rocckkks) and checked out Amour at Taipan. Then it was off to SS15 to collect her decaying A-levels certificate from Taylor’s and also to pay Cats Whiskers, Veronica’s Closet and Full House a visit. CCB Full House was closed though. Made us walk so far and then to find out that it was closed. ARGH.

My last activity was last night when Mel called Elaine and Sue Ann out. Both of which are my ex primary school mates and it was so fun that we could all get along and be ourselves without any stupid polite schmolite small talks. Well, I should know. There were talks about brazillian waxes followed by screeching laughter, and my hands cupping the space in front of my chest followed by more screeching laughter and so much more.

Apparently, Leo’s didn’t quite make the cut for a real place to hangout for us. We sauntered off to mcD’s Drive-thru where a mountain of french fries, vanilla ice cream and refillable coke were so much more fun! Elaine made me take photo evidences of assholes who parked at the parking space for handicapped people. I felt like a paparazzi! I’d put the series of photos up but I don’t want to get my ass kicked for no reason. The night concluded with plans to go clubbing on Friday, without me. πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™ Stupid Kedah!

Melody and her imaginary friend at Leo’s!

Me love McD’s icecream and fries so much!

I was standing there to chup a parking spot for Mel and didn’t realise that it was for handicapped people.

l-r: Mun Teng, Mel, myself, Elaine and Sue Ann! What a lovely night out!! We should do it often!

The many uses of left over chilli sauce and pepper.

melody deep in thought.
