Stop and Take Photo With The Flowers and Becoming A Real-er Dentist!

Posted on March 14, 2007 by Jolene

Spontaneity in life is very important. You need this personality trait if you ever come across a beautiful tree with white falling flowers and more white flowers strewn all over the ground.

And sometimes you need to start slapping yourself for buying your 5th pair of sandals in two weeks. But It’s SO BLUE! I lovee~~.

Aforementioned beautiful white tree. It seems strange that the tree only started to bloom this week.

A flower fell on Brenda’s car’s windscreen.

Since we had time to spare before the afternoon classes, we decided to have some fun under the white flower tree.

Lie Yuen(cheh! Pan cute!) and Brenda.

Supposed to catch this photo alongside the falling white flowers. Fail.

I really don’t know what to say about this picture of me. -_-

Trying to act fairy-nymph like with these flower holding stance.

Blow la damnit.

Brenda and her very bendable back.

damn nice la her skirt against the dead but beautiful flowery background.

Brenda posing like she’s in a karaoke mtv. Hehehee.

A new method of camwhoring has been discovered.

During the last conservative dentistry practical, we had to learn to use the slow speed handpiece with the round burs to remove all the residual caries from the teeth.

See the brown stains in the cavity? Those are supposed to be caries.

After going around with the round bur, it’s damn clean already!

Me looking oh so diligently hard at work.

Damn amalgam just won’t come out. Took me so long. When I brought the fissure bur on to the amalgam, specks of glittery particles flew all over the place. I was mesmerized for awhile.

Tada!! Clean or not?:D

And there were some lesions on the buccal/lingual aspect of the molars, hence I had to make a hole into that area and remove whatever caries that were found.

*Yawn* I promise you that these are one of the final stages of dentures. Here, cold mould seal is applied before packing the acrylic which is the actual material of the dentures. Cold mould seal is to prevent the acrylic from sticking to the model and the plaster around it.

I’ll let you in on a secret: I love the smell of monomer and polymer. Mmmmmmmmmmm. Firstly because it reminds me of my old workplace, Nail Artz, when I was in form4. 3D nail arts are done in the same way thus forming acrylic to be moulded into whatever pop-up designs on the nails. Good ol’ memories. It just smells sweet. But apparently it’s very poisonous.

After it becomes dough-like, roll it into a ball.

The acrylic dough is then placed onto the teeth.

The top part of the flask is closed down onto the bottom before compressing it one more time.

In the following conservative dentistry practical, we did fissure sealing.

This is Brenda and the LED for light curing.

I’m blue da ba dee da ba dai, oh da ba dee da ba dai, da ba dee da ba dai…

The only words that come to my mind when I saw this picture seems to be “I am your fa-thaaarrr…”.. Don’t know why.

Oh hello there. 🙂

One more.

Take three. Sorry la, I like my new glasses. It makes me look innocent. And…wait……..*peers closer* YES IT DOES! it DOES make my eyes look bigger.

Lie Yuen hates her forehead.

One more in full gear.

OKLA SET! The moment that I’ve been waiting for in all the years(actually only 1 and a half years) that I’ve been in dentistry. Finally can look like a dentist. Woot woot! I’ve already sent this photo my father. He sure damn happy to see one. 😛

We were supposed to make a small pit for restorative purposes.

Not easy to handle two instruments… I need a dental nurse already! *sob*

I thought this photo looked rather nice. With everybody paying attention, and the lecturer teaching in front.

Poh Yee and I.

During fissure sealing, you have to etch the fissures of the teeth with phosphoric acid for 20seconds.

Fissure sealing is done on children with erupting molars where cleaning seems to be difficult. It can also be done on handicapped people as they might find that it is in convenient to brush their teeth normally. Also, this treatment is done on people with really deep fissures. With really deep fissures, caries have a better chance to happen. (food get trapped inside etc etc..)

The sealant was so easy to manipulate. I want to play somemore! *puts hands out like a baby wanting to play with a favourite toy*

After light curing(didn’t take a photo of that, damn), the sealant becomes damn hard. And so shiny too!

Lie Yuen’s kembangifying photo.

Exam seasons are coming again. Which means i’ll be upping my daily dosage of blogs reading. Such is the life of the procrastinating student. Sigh.
